From Abano and Montegrotto: Wine Tour in the Euganean Hills
Description
The Euganean Hills are a group of hills of volcanic origin that rise to heights of 300 to 600 m from the Padovan-Venetian plain a few km south of Venice. Accompanied by the Local Tour Leader you will enter the heart of the Euganean Hills to discover, thanks to the visit in two renowned wineries of the Euganean territory, the best wine production in the area. Here the particular volcanic origin of the soil and the good climate allows the cultivation of various vines. Among the white wines: the Serprino, biotype of the Glera vine, is the “volcanic” version of Prosecco; the Pinot bianco; the Garganega, the Chardonnay and Manzoni. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmènere have found space among the reds. Between a walk through the vineyards, a visit to the cellar and several wine tastings paired with typical local products we will listen to the wise tale of the winemakers about the expressions of their best wines.

Nico was an exceptional guide. His passion and love for his community and the products of the region was clear at every step of the trip. My husband and I loved the wine and regional foods we sampled on this excursion. Easy pick up and drop off in a very comfortable and air conditioned van directly from our hotel. I would unhesitatingly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys wine, food, and learning about the colorful Euganean region. It was definitely a highlight of our first trip to Italy.
The tour was great. We had a great time learning about the methods of making wine and enjoyed trying different varieties. Our tour guide/translator, Nico, was fun and went out of his way to answer questions and provided insight during the tour. It was an amazing day. Definitely would recommend.

Leave time to both enjoy the visit and enrich the tour with details and curiosities. The tasting is extensive and well organised, with even a tour of the harvesting machinery and a tour of the vines accompanied by the owners. Both cellar managers will be ready to describe to you every taste and aroma that you will taste in the wines, leaving you to understand the enormous passion they have for what they do. Of course, you can shop on site immediately afterwards and fill Camilla with questions. Camilla was our tour guide. She was a lot of fun and very knowledge about the are area and the wineries. She was fun to just chat with. We went to Terra Felice winery and it was one of the best. Very welcoming and charming. Felt like we were right at home. She is very passionate about her wine. Highly recommended. This was a highlight of our vacation.
