Description

IMPORTANT- There is a dress code for this tour and please bring 5K cash!! Guys must wear pants for the last club!! Swimwear, sandals, hats, sportswear, and sunglasses are NOT allowed! Furthermore, we do not allow any aspects of sex tourism either. We are a group of local friends that host bar crawls in Colombia. We wanted to give foreigners and tourists a unique "locals' experience", so we started these bar crawls. This bar crawl consists of 1 local bar, the famous "salsa street", 1 salsa club, and 1 dance club; all located in the nightlife district of Cali. The north of Cali is one of the most popular nightlife areas among locals and tourists in Cali. We will meet at the first bar at 8:30 pm to congregate and converse. We will then proceed to the next bars every hour, finally finishing off at Espacio 10-60 by 12:15 am. Sometimes locals also come on our crawls, so you may have the opportunity to connect with some Colombians and practice your Spanish!

The first location on our tour will be La Colina Tertuliadero. This bar is very local and has a fantastic, friendly environment.

The second location on our tour will be the famous La Calle Del Sabor ("Salsa Street"). This street is an extremely unique occurance to Cali and you absolutely must experience the atmosphere. Every Friday night, the city government schedules live bands and DJ's on this street to play salsa music. Locals pack in to dance salsa with one another. You will be able to purchase beer in the street if you like.

Admission not included60 min

Our third location is possibly the best salsa club in Cali. La Topa hosts some of the most incredible salsa dancers in the world. The club is always packed with locals and foreigners alike- daring to showcase their salsa moves. If you are new to salsa, do not worry. The club is very novice friendly, with locals willingly to help those new to salsa practice their steps. Here you will receive a discounted cover of 15k COP.

Admission not included60 min

With 3 different floors consisting of salsa, techno, and crossover music, Espacio 10-60 is the perfect location to end your night. This club has a great view of the city and serves very affordable cocktails (and bottles). Espacio has become a close rival as the top locals' favorite- almost surpasing La Pergola. Here you will recieve a discounted cover of 5k COP.

Fun way to get a flavour of Salsa in Cali

Our guide was Luisa, super friendly and welcoming. The night started off at a bar where we got to know other people in the group. We then headed into the centre of town to another bar where we received a free beer. We danced there for a while before moving to the "Calle del Sabor" very crowded but amazing atmosphere. There followed another 2 clubs, one was a mix of ages and played just salsa, its was exactly what I wanted in a salsa club!! The last one 10-60 which played a mix of salsa, electronic and reggaeton was full of a younger crowd but also a great atmosphere! All in all I would commend as a way to get a taste of salsa in Cali.

When strangers turn into friends!

I had such a great time with Gabriella and Diego. They were very knowledgeable about the city and the bars we went to. They taught me how to salsa and I can’t even dance lol. Overall I had an amazing experience and made some new friends. I would highly recommended attending the bar crawl.

Cali’s Salsa Culture

Overall, I personally enjoyed this experience and I’m glad I did it! The original meeting location was changed from the itinerary, but the new spot was fine. I really appreciated that a group chat was created beforehand, it made it easy to connect with everyone and set the vibe early. The first bar had more of a USA vibe than Colombia, but it was nice that we could have separate bills. That definitely made things smoother. When we moved to the next location, we had to order our own Uber because the guides weren’t able to transfer or place the orders for us. That part felt a bit unorganized, especially since it ended up costing more than expected. I think that detail should be figured out in advance so guests don’t feel like they’re paying more than expected especially when not mentioned in the itinerary. The energy on “salsa street” was lively and fun, definitely interesting and very Cali Ave though we stationed right in front of the porta potties for a while. The final salsa club had great music and true salsa vibes, but it was extremely packed. We couldn’t even sit in the live music area, which took away from what could’ve been a more authentic experience. I think this tour has great potential. With better coordination between the venues and clearer operational planning, it could feel more seamless and immersive - even if that means charging a bit more to ensure the experience is fully set up and curated. Still, I had a good time and loved experiencing Cali’s salsa culture.

Operator response

Hi Amy! Thank you so much for your review and we are so sorry about the Uber situation. There was some issues with finding cars on Friday. We tried to reach out in the group chat to reimburse whoever paid for the Uber and we will definitely reimburse whoever did pay it if they would like to respond in the group chat!
