I booked 3 different tours with Viator. The first was the castle and the guide canceled. The second was a tour of Frida museum at 10am in January 2 and Trotsky museum at 1:30 on January 2nd. Viator combined them into one and changed it to Frida red house not the blue house and has not credited me for anything of these.
Hi Karen, Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry for the confusion and frustration this caused. The changes you mention — combining tours, timing adjustments, and the museum selection — were handled on Viator’s side as part of their scheduling and availability management, not directly by our local operations. That said, we understand how disappointing this can be. For any credits or billing adjustments, Viator is the platform that processes payments and refunds, so we strongly recommend contacting their support directly to review your case. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope it can be resolved promptly for you.
Tour was interesting overview of town and period. However, the most interesting part to us was the Blue House, and we didn't need a tour guide for that since everything was explained in pictures and captions. Also, timing was poor. We arrived at Blue House 45 minutes early and had to wait for our time slot to get in.
Hi Norton, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you found the overview of the area and historical context interesting. Regarding the timing at the Blue House, entry times are strictly controlled by the museum, and arriving early is sometimes necessary to ensure smooth access and avoid missing the slot due to lines or security checks. We appreciate your comments and will use them to keep improving pacing and expectations for future visitors.
Mayra was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly! Must see Trotsky and Frida Kahlo house museums. Coyoacán Is a charming neighborhood. Highly recommend it!
Hi! Thanks for taking a moment to write such a nice review and recommend us to others. We are glad you enjoyed your tour to the Frida Kahlo Museum with Mayra. Your kind words are greatly appreciated, and we hope you won't hesitate to let us know if we can serve you in the future! gratefully, Vibe Adventures’ team
The Frida Kahlo house/museum and Trotsky house were worthwhile and well presented. However, we started too far from the museums and spent far too much time killing time walking through the market and down boring streets waiting to get into the museums. Viator scheduling was a nightmare. We had a 10am start booked. On the day before, they informed us that we were rescheduled for a 2:30 tour time. Late the night before, we got a message from Eduardo that he would meet us at 10am. After some last minute exchanges with Viator, he confirmed the 2:30 time. The day of the tour while we trying to book transportation, the time got changed again to 3:00. The bottom line was that we didn’t get into the Frida Kahlo house until an hour before closing and were rushed out before seeing everything or getting to visit the shops.
Dear Susan, Thank you for your feedback. We're truly sorry for the confusion with the tour schedule and the rushed experience at the Frida Kahlo Museum. We understand how disappointing that must have been and are addressing this issue with Viator to prevent it in the future. We also appreciate your comments about the time spent before the museum visits and will review the itinerary to improve the overall experience. Thank you again for your honesty—it helps us do better. Best regards.
I booked this because they advertised they had access to tickets to Casa Azul for the day i wanted. No other tours had tickets for that day and no tickets were available directly from the museum. I was then disappointed to be told by Vibe Adventures that they did not actually have tickets available for that day. They offered a couple of reasonable alternative options, and we chose to go with a tour that included the Leon Trotsky house museum and the Kahlo/Rivera studio. They confirmed the tour and instructed us to meet the guide at 10am at the Trotsky museum. Our guide never showed up. I was able to get through to someone from the company via WhatsApp eventually, who simply said “I’ll check with the guide.” No apology. No acknowledgement of the inconvenience they caused us. No timeframe for when they would get back to us. After a few more minutes we decided we did not want to wait any longer and asked for a refund. This was acknowledged in the WhatsApp conversation but not processed for another 48 hours. In the interim I received multiple text messages and emails requesting a review. I do not recommend using this company.
Dear Mary, We sincerely apologize for the unfortunate experience you had with your tour. As clearly stated in the description of our tour, tickets to the Frida Kahlo Museum (Casa Azul) are subject to availability and must be booked well in advance. We do not advertise tickets for the same reason, to ensure transparency regarding their limited availability. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure tickets for the date you requested, and we regret the confusion this caused. We also deeply apologize for the guide's no-show and for the lack of proper communication. This is not the level of service we strive to provide, and we are taking your feedback seriously to improve both our communication and reliability going forward. We understand your frustration, and we are working to ensure that such issues do not happen again. Regards,
The tour guide didn't show up. This was after they had emailed me and told me last minute that tickets to the Frida museum were sold out and I agreed to pivot. What a disappointment. They refunded my money.
Dear Vivian, We sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you had with your tour. As mentioned in our policy, tickets to the Frida Kahlo Museum are subject to availability and must be booked well in advance due to their limited supply. We're sorry that we weren't able to secure tickets in time and that the guide was unable to meet you. We understand your frustration and are committed to improving our communication to prevent such issues in the future. Regards, Vibe Adventures' team
We booked the tour with viator for the Frida Kahlo museum, received confirmation emails throughout up to day of the tour. When we got there, the guide didn't show and when we called viator they couldn't get intouch with the local tour company and didn't make any attempts to resolve the situation, just told us that the local company was not responding. We then got in touch with the local tour company and they had no record of this tour being booked. They reimbursed us for the tour but left a bad taste for the future
Dear Aysha, We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with your tour. We understand how frustrating it must have been for the guide to not show up, and for the lack of communication from both Viator and our team. We are working to improve our communication with Viator to prevent this from happening again in the future. Thank you for your understanding, and we truly appreciate your feedback. Best regards, Vibe Adventures' team
AVOID USING THIS TOUR OPERATOR. They advertise museum tours without actually knowing if a museum has availability and will cancel on you last second once they learn it doesn’t. We missed out on another Frida Kahlo museum tour because of this. DO NOT USE.
Hello, We're sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration. As stated in our policy, which is included in the tour description, tickets to the Frida Kahlo Museum require early booking due to their limited availability. If a booking is made with less than 10 days' notice, we advise checking ticket availability beforehand. In cases where tickets are unavailable, we make every effort to notify our customers and offer a full refund. We appreciate your understanding and hope this clarification helps. Regards
We usually take group tours so we didn’t know what to expect for our private tour of the Frida Kahlo Museum, Trotsky House, and Coyoacan. Any reservations we might have had were immediately put to rest however, as Irazu was an extremely generous and knowledgeable guide. Her love of Mexico City was very apparent and she went out of her way to show us some of the most interesting sights we encountered on our entire trip. We got to see another side of Mexico City that we never would have had the privilege of experiencing without her expert guidance. We learned so much from the tours themselves and would recommend the tour and Irazu as guide to anyone. It was probably the best tour we’ve ever taken as we got to step outside of the usual tourist spots and explore authentic Mexico City culture. My appreciation for the city increased that much more from all the we learned and had the good fortune to see.
Hello! Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that your private tour with Irazu exceeded your expectations. It's wonderful that you were able to explore the authentic side of Mexico City and gain a deeper appreciation for its culture. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you on another tour soon! Regards, Vibe Adventures' team
Our tour was supposed to be 3.5 hours, 10:00 AM-1:30 PM. The tickets the company purchased for us for the Frida museum were booked for 1:30 PM, outside the time of our tour. On top of this, our guide showed up half an hour late and we saw little to nothing for the first hour of our tour. We had a lunch and another tour booked for our afternoon, so this was a disaster for us. We, and our very inexperienced guide, had to do backflips to rearrange our schedule. Our guide was sweet and did her best, however English was very new to her and by the time she managed to form coherent sentences to explain a landmark or answer a question, the moment and often relevant information were lost. Wish we had chosen a different company with a better track record.
Dear Thomas, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, and we apologize for any confusion or inconvenience you experienced during your tour. Allow us to provide some additional context: At the outset, the traveler seemed confused about the Viator booking process. It's important to note that Viator is a platform connecting travelers with various local operators rather than being a tour operator itself. This may have led to misunderstandings regarding ticket arrangements, as the customer confirmed that they were contacting another operator and were provided different information about the tour duration and ticket availability (initially, it thought that the tour was 2 hours instead of 3.5 hours, so 10 and to 12 pm that's why travelers had a restaurant booking at 12 pm - see the next paragraph, but then the customer confirmed it was all confusion from their part). Regarding the timing of the Frida museum tickets, we want to clarify that they were indeed purchased for a 1:15 PM entry, as it was the only available slot at the time of booking (we were to provide complimentary extra time to travelers; this info was shared with the customer via several Viator messages but without any response). However, there was a request from the travelers for a lunch break at 12 PM (please see previous paragraph for the context), which was not part of the itinerary. Consequently, the museum entry had to be delayed, and we worked with the museum staff to accommodate the group's later arrival. Our records confirm that the guide was 15 minutes late due to public transportation interruption (which unfortunately happens in Mexico City). Despite the guide's attempts to contact the traveler the day before (to confirm the up time and location) and on the tour day (to inform them about the delay), the provided phone number did not respond to calls, texts, or WhatsApp messages (neither messages our reservations team sent through Viator). Thus, we emphasize the importance of providing a valid contact number, as stated in our tour description ("CONTACT: Please provide a valid contact phone number with the international prefix (e.g., +11111111111) as our guide may need it for pickup. Please ensure it's available on the day of the tour. Alternatively, if we cannot find and reach you, the tour will be considered a no-show."), to ensure smooth communication and coordination. We sincerely apologize for any challenges you encountered and appreciate your understanding. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we are committed to improving our services based on your input. Best regards, Vibe Adventures Team
