Itinerary
Angkor Wat is the crown jewel of Cambodia and the world’s largest religious monument. Built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II, it was dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu before later becoming a Buddhist temple. As dawn breaks, the temple’s five iconic towers rise from the mist like a vision from another world. Its long galleries tell stories of gods, demons, and epic battles carved into sandstone — a masterpiece of Khmer art and devotion. Whether you come for sunrise or sunset, Angkor Wat leaves a lasting impression of grandeur, balance, and spiritual calm.
Ta Prohm is where nature and history live side by side. Left in much the same condition as it was found, this 12th-century temple is famous for the giant silk-cotton and fig trees whose roots twist through crumbling stone walls. Built by King Jayavarman VII in honor of his mother, Ta Prohm once housed thousands of monks and dancers. Today, the temple’s mysterious atmosphere — immortalized by the film Tomb Raider — makes every visitor feel like a real explorer discovering a lost world.
At the heart of Angkor Thom lies Bayon, a temple unlike any other. Known for its 54 towers adorned with over 200 smiling faces, Bayon represents the spiritual vision of King Jayavarman VII — compassion watching over his kingdom. Step inside and you’ll find intricate bas-reliefs depicting everyday life, battles, and legends from Khmer history. The gentle, enigmatic smiles of Bayon’s towers seem to follow you everywhere — a reminder of peace and divine wisdom.
Phimean Akas, meaning “Celestial Palace,” is one of Angkor’s earliest pyramid-style temples. Built in the 10th century during the reign of Rajendravarman II, it symbolizes Mount Meru — the sacred home of the gods. Visitors can climb the steep steps to the top and imagine ancient kings performing rituals under the open sky. From above, the view over Angkor Thom evokes the grandeur of a forgotten empire reaching toward heaven.
Once described as the “towering bronze mountain,” Baphuon was one of Angkor’s most impressive structures when built in the 11th century. This three-tiered temple mountain was dedicated to Shiva and later transformed into a Buddhist shrine. After centuries of collapse and restoration, visitors today can walk its elevated causeway, admire its massive reclining Buddha, and enjoy panoramic views of Angkor Thom from the summit — a powerful symbol of rebirth and resilience.

We had a wonderful day with Mr Tola! We went to Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, and Bayon temple in the morning, and then to the floating village in the afternoon. At the temples he took us to places away from the crowds, and he was very knowledgeable about the history, pointing out details we would never have noticed without him. He took great care in taking great photos for us too! He has a warm and humourous nature - highly recommend him as your guide!
We cannot recommend using Tola as your tour guide in Cambodia enough, he is the best of the best! We quickly felt like we were being shown the beauty of Angkor Wat, surrounding temples and Kulen Elephant Forest with a friend rather than a tour guide. Tola is knowledgeable, funny, kind and clearly has a passion for showing the world the incredible history and culture of Cambodia. His English is exceptional and he went above and beyond to add unique touches to our tours, as part of our honeymoon. As a complete bonus, he is an excellent photographer and captured moments which we will treasure forever. Thank you Tola for everything, we hope to be back soon!
