Chinese fishing nets(Cheena vala)are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. While commonly known as "Chinese fishing nets" in India, the more formal name for such nets is shore operated lift nets. Huge mechanical contrivances hold out horizontal nets of 20 m or more across. Each structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each installation is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. While such nets are used throughout coastal southern China and Indochina, in India they are mostly found in the Indian cities of Kochi and Kollam, where they have become a tourist attraction. This way of fishing is unusual in India and almost unique to the area, as it was introduced by Chinese explorers who landed there in the 14th century. Indeed, one interpretation of the city name Kochi is ‘co-chin'

What a great experience! He knows all the hot spots and the history behind the locations. Very friendly and wonderful service.
Shaheer gave us an excellent tour of Kochi, taking us to the specific places we wanted to see, and making many useful recommendations along the way. The tuk-tuk was in great shape, not noisy or smelly like some others. Highly recommended. 🙂🛺
Thanks 👍 We know what you came here looking for, and it's our responsibility to take it to the correct spot. ...,,,, 🛺🛺🛺
The best way to visit Fort kochi with a local driver and his Ferrari. When we will come back, sure that we contact him again!
Thanks 👍 Customer happiness is our happiness. So everyone is happy 😁
What a great day with Riva! He drove me around Mattancherry almost the whole day with stops along the way and lunch and was in such a good mood the whole time. It was really fun and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a particularly fun tuk-tuk tour through Mattancherry.
Thanks 👍 We try to show all the places in our tour in some way. We are also happy that the customer is happy with that show. 🛺🛺🛺🛺
A well organised tuk tuk tour of Fort Kochi with Shina. Perfect. Thank you.
Thanks 👍 Thanks for super review ⭐
I so enjoyed my tuk-tuk tour of Fort Cochin today. It was just what I needed, not too stressful but a good first day to expose after a very long and exhausting journey. Riya was the driver of his top class Ferrari with special air conditioning :) He picked me up in good time from my hotel, even though it was a fair distance from Fort Kochi and let me know he was waiting outside. We did the usual tourist spots but if I asked I wanted to buy some local spices, for example, he took me to a great place, and he also recommended an Ayurvedic massage to help with my aches from my journey. It was a great day, exploring at my pace, with a kind and friendly driver.
Price/performance we found very fair. We were able to visit some interesting churches and other places in Kochi, such as a laundry. One point could be improved. It concerns the visits to shops associated with the tour, where you almost got pushed to buy something. Here the guide might ask at the beginning whether you want to visit the 3 shops or not.
Thoussef the driver was fantastic. Guided tours and stops. Nice, available, kind. This trick was extraordinary. I definitely recommend
Good experience with our driver Shameer who was pleasant and accommodating.
Smilie Shaheer is the perfect driver, very friendly, just so helpful and a fount of knowledge. His tuk tuk is shiny and spotless and because it runs on gas is quiet too. We already had a tour of Kochi booked but he stopped to chat just outside our hotel and when he heard we’d just arrived he offered to give us a quick ‘run about’ to get our bearings. He’s just such fun and full of great suggestions of places to visit. We took his contact details and he was more than happy to ferry us about when we wanted. We’d definitely recommend him!
