Wonderful Food and History Tour

Letizia made for such a wonderful tour! We learned all about Ortigia/Syracuse/Sicily. She spoke great English and we took some fun stops for food and drinks. We had our 4 month old son with us and she was extremely accommodating for feedings and diaper changes. I can’t recommend this tour enough! You won’t regret booking!

Worthwhile

We were fortunate to have Letizia to ourselves for our food and cultural tour. She was warm, knowledgeable and relaxed. We learned a good deal about the local food and culture. Her English was excellent and she shared stories of the history of Ortigia as well as her own background. She took us to local cafes, bakeries and the market, and we tasted many delicious treats. There was plenty of food included. We loved our tour - thank you Letizia for sharing your home town with us in such an engaging way.

Highly recommended!

We had the best tour with Letizia today, with my husband and baby. We started with a walking tour of Ortigia and ended with several tastings along the way, experiencing the whole gastronomy of Siracusa. Letizia is a very knowledgeable guide, she could answer all our questions and paid extra attention to our toddler, we didn't feel rushed at all. I highly recommend booking a tour with her!

Informative Tour with Great Food

Letizia is a wonderful and personable guide. She is very knowledgeable about the local food, culture and history. This was our second tour with her. We stopped at local shops and tried local delicacies, pastries as well as some limoncello. We also strolled the street markets and learned about the history of Ortigia. We even saw where she grew up when she was a child. A stop at the refugee tunnel shelter and purification baths were fascinating. This is a tour worth taking. We highly recommend it.

When the best laid plans go awry. . .

We had the good fortune of taking this tour with Letizia. Unfortunately, about 45 minutes into our two hours with her, a torrential rain started, upending all that she had planned to show us. With great good humor, we made a mad dash into a small pastry shop where we rode out the storm having her buy us various items of street food and sweets and explaining their place in Sicily life, and just talking about Ortigia and Sicily at large. We didn't see everything she wanted to show us, but we loved our time with her, learned a lot, laughed a lot, and ate some wonderful food. Thank you Letizia for a very fun time.

Best guide in Syracuse

Letizia took us on a fantastic walk in the alleys of Ortigia. Sensitive to our questions and requests, she told us everything we wanted to know and took the time to explain things we did not understand. The food stops were well chosen. Letizia's personal entrance into her job as a guide makes me count her as one of the best!

Book this Tour. Worth every penny.

What a fabulous day. We were escorted around the most exquisite parts of this beautiful town being shown the secrets that only a resident with many years experience and family history would know. Letizia took us on a tour of fantastic food flavours in typical cafes mixing this with so much history and stories of the town. It was a fantastic 3 hours that flew by. Thank you Letizia. You deserve much success.

A visit combining culture and gastronomy, unforgettable!

We had the chance to discover Ortigia with Letizia on a private tour mixing historical anecdotes and gourmet tastings. Along the way, we learned why the city is called Syracuse, how and why it was founded here, discovered that the papyrus grows there (the only place in the world with Egypt), and visited the exceptional cathedral — an ancient temple transformed into a Christian place of worship and remarkably preserved. We also discovered the history of Saint Lucia, the meaning of the ceramic pine rods hanging on the balconies, and the legend of the famous Sicilian ceramic heads. Letizia punctuates the visit with anecdotes from antiquity to the present day, adapting perfectly to its visitors. On the gastronomy side, she knows everyone on the market and in the shops, which allowed us to tastes that we would never have done alone: pistachios, almonds, dried tomatoes, grilled fish, cold cuts, cheeses, typical cheese or anchovy preparations, arancini and fried pizza... Not to mention sweets like cassata siciliana and other sweet specialties, all accompanied by wine, limoncello and pistachio spread. A lively, generous and friendly experience that we highly recommend!

Operator response

Merci beaucoup, Leticia, pour vos gentils mots. Ce fut un plaisir de partager avec vous les anecdotes et les secrets d'Ortigia et de la street food sicilienne. À bientôt, Letizia
