Learn how Brunelleschi designed the famous dome and why the Baptistery’s bronze doors became a Renaissance masterpiece.
The tour continues with a visit to either the Duomo Museum or the Florence Baptistery, depending on availability. At the Duomo Museum, see original sculptures and works by Michelangelo and Donatello that shaped the cathedral complex.
At the Baptistery, admire the glowing golden mosaics and learn why its bronze doors are known as the “Gates of Paradise.”
Follow your guide through Florence’s medieval streets toward Piazza della Signoria, an open-air museum of Renaissance sculptures. Learn about Palazzo Vecchio, the city’s historic seat of power, and uncover the political and artistic events that shaped Florence during the Medici era.
Walk past the Uffizi Gallery and hear stories of the Medici family and the artists they supported, including Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci. See the Uffizi from the exterior as your guide explains its architecture and its importance in Florence’s artistic heritage.
End your experience at Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s oldest bridge. Take in the warm reflections on the Arno River and enjoy the picturesque views that make this spot one of the city’s most photographed places.

Sylvia was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the history of Florence. We wouldn’t have got the same information from wandering around on our own.
Would not recommend. We were told the Duomo was too crowded and we could use our ticket at another time for three days. We already had a schedule set so we didn’t get see it. However, the tour guide was pleasant and knowledgeable.
The tour and guide were excellent. It was perfectly paced and the right amount of time. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and joy was a perfect way to learn about this beautiful city and the Duomo. We highly recommend.
We recently booked several tours in Rome/Florence/Venice. I would not recommend this Tour or its operator, Walks of Europe. Their customer service is non-existent. If you attempt to call, the number provided (a NY#), goes directly to voicemail and no one will call you back. We contacted Viator, they confirmed they were also unable to reach them. Very disappointing and frustrating when you need assistance.
Hi Tucker, I’ve reviewed your case, and I can see that our customer service team made multiple attempts to assist you, including 6 emails, 2 WhatsApp messages, and 2 SMS messages. These were sent in response to your request to change the tour date and time. On the day of the tour, you arrived approximately 20 minutes after the scheduled meeting time. As the group had already departed, your booking was marked as a no-show, in line with our operating policy for timed tours. Given our team's efforts to support you, we would appreciate it if you could clarify which aspect of your experience you felt reflected poor customer service.
Great tour and guide! Knowledgeable me. It was easy to find the meeting point. Enjoyed the Bell climb.
Great way to see the city and get an introduction to Florence. Chiams is obviously proud of her heritage and is very passionate about what she does. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour.
The person for this tour did not hold up the sign “Walks in Europe.” So, it was difficult for our group members to find the tour director. Our tour director was also late, making it even more difficult to find the tour. Some tickets were printed incorrectly, so the tickets did not scan into the museum and cathedral for some group participants. Tour director did not wait for all participants to enter the museum/cathedral, or help these participants. The tour director left the participants stranded at the turnstile, delaying the security line for everyone else, despite the participants having paid for an “intimate guided tour.” Director also did not wear bright clothing, hold a sign, or hold a tall stick or flag, making her extremely difficult to spot. If the tour operator/provider would like more details of the date, time, and name of tour director, they are welcome to contact me personally for more details of this incident. For other interested buyers, I wouldn’t recommend this specific tour. It seems you’d save money and frustration by buying your own entry tickets for the museum, cathedral, and bell tower. Lastly, the “skip the line,” is not guaranteed either. We still had to wait in line for entry to these attractions.
We would like to kindly clarify a few details about touring in Florence. Due to security regulations inside historic sites, licensed guides are not permitted to use sticks, poles, or flags , as the spaces are quite compact and very busy — especially during the Christmas holiday period when visitor numbers are extremely high. Regarding the entrance process, the turnstiles in many Italian monuments are indeed older and can occasionally require manual assistance. Our guide ensured that all tickets were properly scanned and that the group passed through comfortably, even if it took a little extra time. This particular tour is not advertised as a skip-the-line experience, as priority entry is not available at these venues. Group tours do require guests to move together as a single unit, which can feel slower during peak travel periods when sites also have reduced opening hours. We’re sorry if the experience did not fully match your expectations. For travelers seeking a more personalized pace and close attention from the guide, a private tour is often the most suitable option — especially during the busiest times of the year. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope the rest of your time in Florence was wonderful.
And this time so much hat... really nice, nothing to say is unmissable... in fact it is full of tourists... unmissable!
