Description

Visit one of the most popular destinations in Uzbekistan with this two-day tour to Fergana Valley. From 2016 travelers take the train ride to Fergana valley through the longest tunnel in Central Asia which is 21 km. On this tour you visit Margilan where the majority of silk is made in Uzbekistan, Rishtan city—famed for its blue-and-green ceramics and famous Kokand city. • Travelers can see traditional methods of weaving along the Silk Road. One of the best-known places is in Margilan in the Fergana Valley, where visitors are welcome to tour in a small factory. • You learn difference between artificial and real silk (Real silk is warmer to the touch, is more tightly woven and if you care to set fire to a piece, will turn into an ashen ball and smell like burning hair). • Have a guided tour in the most impressive sight of Kokand in Khudayar Khan Palace which is one of the most glittering royal residences in Central Asia.

A varied trip which...

A varied trip which included two visits to silk producers in Margilan, at one you saw the end to end process, from silk worm to finished product, also a stop at Rishtan to visit a ceramics studio, in Khokand we stayed at an excellent hotel with a lovely garden. On the second day in addition to visiting the Palace wr visited a couple of other buildings and the Museum of Scholars. Whilst the train trip was long you do travel through spectacular scenery. Excellent guide as well.
