Description

Our Cooking Class is located right outside of Corredera Food Market at Jugo Vinos Vivos; the first natural wine bar opened in 2014 in Cordoba. The classes are developed by Gabrielle Mangeri, a world traveler from New York City who landed in Cordoba in 2010. During this guided tour, you will buy all of the seasonal ingredients for a dynamic and delcious cooking class, learn about locally grown products and participate in the selection of the recipes that will be used to make a hand crafted menu using the best fresh and seasonal ingredientes. A class which combines a passion for food with creativity and intuition. A moment to activate our senses and relish in the pleasures of food and wine, of art and music and to begin a conversation with slow living.

What a delightful...

What a delightful experience! This was the most flexible, fun cooking class I’ve ever had. The menu wasn’t set - we designed it together based on what was available at the market. We were more sous chefs than chefs, but we could have been more or less involved if we wanted. It was like being invited into someone’s kitchen. In a world full of scripted experiences, it was so nice to find something that felt very genuine and personal. Oh, and the food and drinks were delicious. Highly recommended!

A disappointment

My husband and I have taken many cooking classes over the years in our travels and we have always given them great reviews. Normally the class takes place in the home of a local. So in addition to the cooking we learn a lot about the history and customs of the area. We are often joined by others from different countries and the host has included everyone in the conversation even when the participants speak different languages. Despite the fact that this class was priced higher than any we have taken in the past we signed up with high hopes. My first disappoinment was that Gaby was not a Spaniard but was from New York. Secondly we were not warmly welcomed into her home but were taken to the very small wine bar that she owned. The other couple in the class were also Americans. It seems that they had gone to one of her wine tastings the night before and purchased some wine. While my husband and I did some chopping we never did any of the cooking. We were hardly included in the conversation and when we were Gaby called my husband Bob when his name is Lou. I asked Gaby for the recipes and she said she would send them to me if I emailed her. Normally the host sends these out to all participants after the class. I sent her 3 email requests. I tried to call several times only to find that her mailbox was full. I am sorry to write a negative review. It is my first. I always try to find positive things to say but I can only say how disappointed I was in this experience.

Dear Joanne, I am so sorry to read this review and hear that you did not enjoy the class. I really give all my effort into making every person who joins us feel taken care of and comfortable (Jugo is a wine shop but, but also my second home) and am sorry to read that you did not. I apologise for having made a mistake with Lou´s name, sometimes I get confused only because I meet lots of people during the week. I have been in touch with Brian and Jean who were the fellow cooks in the class you participated in and they did receive all the recipes (they've sent me pictures which look wonderful). Unfortunately, I have not received any email or call registration from you, which leaves me to believe there is some mistake with the address you have. I would be more than happy to send you all the recipes. Here is my email address (quiero@jugovivo.com). Take care and be well. Sincerely, Gaby

Great food. Intimate experience.

Intimate experience with an amazing host/cook. Gabby was kind and enthusiastic and shared the culture with us. We enjoyed every minute of it. She allowed us to help prepare the meal and shop. Highly recommend.

Great tailor made cooking class for a couple or friends 👩‍🍳

We met Gabby at the central market and discussed what we (me and the hubby) liked to eat, and what we might like to make. She tailored a menu mixing what both of us liked. After the initial shopping at the central market we stopped by some authentic local shops to round out our provisions. We cooked in her adorable wine shop as we bopped to music and drank wine. It’s located in a beautiful setting on a quaint garden plaza. She taught us core techniques that can be used for many dishes. We finished the experience enjoying the wonderful meal we made. I just wished more people would have signed up for the day we took our class, I love meeting new people who like to cook like I do! 10/10; would do again. Sign up for a class now, or at least stop by her wine bar Jugo for a bottle or a drink.

Enjoyable cooking experience with a very pleasant host/chef

Gaby was very easy to understand and enjoyable to be with. We participated in the shopping for ingredients and as much, or little, as we wanted to in preparing the meal. We even worked thru the electrical blackout that occurred by using portable gas stoves.

Wonderful Cooking Experience in Cordoba

Wonderful Experience. Gabby our cook and head shopper was awesome. She is such a delight to talk with. Lots of great conversations. This experience was just as advertised. We had one other gal from the states and the three of us had a blast. We started in the local market, walked to her shop, prepared everything and had engaging conversations. The food was amazing. I would so highly recommend you give this a try. You will not be disappointed

A wonderful afternoon in Córdoba

We had a great experience with Gabi. She met us at the market and we enjoyed a taste of living and shopping in Córdoba. Then we walked to her charming shop and chopped and chatted and drank wine while she cooked. Salmorejo, mazamorra, salad and arroz negro — it was all scrumptious. Gabi was a wonderful host, I highly recommend this experience!

Fabulous Food, Natural Wines and New Friendships!

We had a blast with Gaby learning about natural wine and foods of Spain. She tailored the menu to accommodate my son with celiac. Super way to spend an afternoon! Mil Gracias Gaby!

A magical afternoon with amazing people

This was the most memorable cooking class I have ever experienced. So many times these events tend to be “observations” or just another way to eat a good meal. This experience was like visiting a great friend who wanted to share the joy of their city and their cooking. We went to the market, shared great wine, shared in the preparation the way you do in a friend’s home versus a classroom, mincing and mingling and laughing. I will never forget the warmth and the remarkably simple and scrumptious meal we all shared.
