Ideal Place to Experience Sichuan Opera Shufengyayun (蜀风雅韵) Sichuan Opera House Shufengyayun Sichuan Opera House, Shufengyayun, located inside Chengdu Culture Park on Qintai Road, is the ideal place to experience the local arts. It is also the only one of its kind where you may enjoy the local tea, Opera and Arts shows in Sichuan Province. Featuring the Chinese traditional opera performances, unique talent shows, as well as opera costumes, exquisite handicrafts exhibits, the theater is just an ideal place for you to enjoy the local arts and culture. Functioned for more than 20 years, Shufengyayun has attracted distinguished performers from across Sichuan Province who held China Sichuan Opera performances each evening. This show has three time slots to choose from 3:30 pm, 5:30 pm 、7:30 pm, you can arrange it according to your preferences. you have the chance to see how the performers make up, how they put their costumes on and even you can take some photos with them.

My honest opinion is that if you miss this show You haven’t missed anything. Unfortunately there was no translation in English on the screens on the side of theatre. The face changing bit was ok but some performers missed the mark , and you could see how face changing happens. .we were told by our guide the show sells out every night so must book in advance, not true there were lots of empty seats.

I'm surprised this is not more widely reviewed or visited by westerners. The show provided a variety of acts including acrobats, musicians, drama and obviously, the face changing illusions. The show provided a great insight into Chinese culture and was very professionally done by the performers. We had front row seats and they provided us with Jasmine tea throughout the evening. You can also order food from your seat which is brought to you. Outside the Opera Precinct at the park, in the evenings, mature aged ladies congregate and do exercises to music as part of their clubs or groups for stock that was also interesting to see. If you are visiting chengadu to see the pandas, make sure you ask your tour to include this show.

This is a MUST when visiting Chengdu. I had an amazing experience, the performance was incredible. I booked with Lala Land tours and was greeted by Lala on arrival to the show. Lala is very friendly and helpful. I had just arrived into the country for first time and was very exhausted. Having the VIP ticket was absaloutly worth it. I was able to meet some performers whilst preparing their make-up and costumes. I had so much fun, I highly recommend. Thank you Lala for your genuine care for me.
