Ready to dive into the fascinating history of the Swiss Embassy in Berlin? Our guide is looking forward to bringing you closer to this unique narrative! Where exactly is this architectural gem, you wonder? On Otto-von-Bismarck-Allee, on the picturesque southern edge of Berlin's Spreebogenpark, a stone's throw from the Federal Chancellery. The Spreebogenpark has a very low-key design in terms of garden architecture, but offers great viewing axes and the many buildings in the vicinity of the park, such as the Federal Chancellery, the Paul Loebe House of the Bundestag, the Swiss Embassy and the main railway station.

10 min

The Paul Loebe House may not be a masterpiece at first glance, but it is the pulsating heart of Parliament! The engine of the Republic is called it. A vibrant place of democracy. Surrounded by a variety of interesting art installations. With a stoop over the Spree, it is part of the Bund ribbon. Learn stories about a special architecture and features of the rooms.

5 min

The Spree meanders through the heart of our capital. Who knew that it once marked an invisible border between East and West for 28 years? On its shore, the wall actually rose – a silent witness to a divided history. But today, oh how has time changed! A number of bridges in the government district stretch across the Spree, connecting the old divide with new life. Here, on the banks of the Spree, political events are pulsating. Isn’t it fascinating to watch journalists conducting interviews with their microphones in hand while the Reichstag sits majestically in the background? Where walls once stood, ideas and visions are now flowing. Who could not feel that the Spree is more than just a river – it is a symbol of change, freedom and the incessant dynamism of life?

This tour including a visit to the plenary chamber - a must when visiting Berlin.

An entertaining and informative tour of the government district. Matthias skillfully combined expert knowledge with fun. After the tour, hassle-free entry into the plenary chamber along with a dome visit.

We would book tour guide Arvid again.

Arvid was a super city guide. We liked that he was a 3rd-generation Berliner and was very knowledgeable, and presented the topic of "government district and government work" in a very entertaining and engaging way to the participants. He was very caring and made sure that the whole group also safely gained entry to the Reichstag dome tour.

Glass dome

Be up in the dome, nice and fun to visit, pre-booked free tickets on the Reichstag page before the trip to Berlin. There is no need to pay for this visit. Sad experience, however, what the unpleasant man selling drinks and ice cream up in the dome, several of the visitors really wondered what was wrong with him, refused to confess visitors. Otherwise a pleasant experience.

Very nice tour and...

Very nice tour and great presentation in the plenary chamber. A highlight of the Berlin trip for me. Due to carpet laying in the Reichstag, there were last-minute schedule changes. The organizer informed us about this directly and also gave us a discount.

Unacceptable lack of communication

I received the email for the meeting point the very same day, at 7 a.m.!!! As a result, not having checked my emails, I foolishly missed the tour; I am still furious.... You don't necessarily check your emails every day, especially when you are on vacation!!! There is an incredible lack of communication! The least they could do is notify customers at least 3/4 days in advance so they don't end up high and dry! Or else, warn that you will receive an email the same day for the meeting point... It's not so much about the money lost, but mostly about the fact that you have to book months in advance if you want a chance to visit the Reichstag!! This lack of communication is truly unacceptable!! I do not recommend, and will no longer use Viator! At least future customers will be warned by reading this review.

Very good if you speak good German and are interested in political systems

The event was in 2 parts, both requiring an ability to understand fairly advanced German (something some attendees had not realised). 1) an hour-long tour showing and explaining the history and purpose of the new government buildings around the Reichstag. This was led by a good informative and amusing guide. 2) Entry into the Reichstag for a talk by an official Reichstag guide. This was slow to start, and the extremely detailed explanation about how the German parliamentary system operated (eg how fast the stenographers had to be able to operate) probably went well beyond what most attendees were interested in. We then went up to the observation terrace and into the dome. The views were excellent (though not significantly better than from other viewing places eg the Dom or Fernsehturm) and a very good audio guide explained the sights we were looking at. In summary, I really enjoyed it, but don't think it would have been worth it had I not been able to understand German well
