The whole experience exceeded my expectations. From being picked up across the street from my room to the delicious lunch with wine. Marco was very knowledgeable about the city, Mt Etna, and flora of the area. The office staff were lovely to deal with too.
Tour in May 2026. Cable car, 4x4, picnic lunch and lava tube trip. VERY windy at summit. Need to have a hat that ties on otherwise you will lose it. Long sleeve and long pants for the chilliness and to protect your skin from flying small lava stones. Must have good hiking shoes/boots. The lava you walk on is like sand and there was still snow on the volcano. Matteo was our guide. A very knowledgeable and caring young man. I had trouble keeping up with the group and Matteo came back and assisted me with climbing. Also, with climbing into and out of the lava tubes. He was wonderful.
Pickup, drop off, information, transportation, cable car, bus ride, tour of Mt. Etna was all good. Could have done without the cave tour.
We took the 'Summit Easy Tour' which they recommended for us. It was the trip of a lifetime - and the whole crew helped make it so. We travelled up and back to Siracusa. They organised that for us for extra cost. We had really comprehensive advice from the office leading up to the trip. And both our transfer driver and our guide for the volcano were fantastic. They were so kind and took good care of us for the whole day - explaining what was going on, arranging jackets/boots, lunch, cable car tickets and so on. It was great to have someone so knowledgeable take our small group of six people up in a minibus, stopping off at the lava tube and accompanying us / guiding us with their experience and knowledge. A really warm and friendly group. Great hikes that I would class as easy-moderate and not too long. A perfect, unforgettable day - thank you Helena, Fabio and Danilo!
Our tour was scheduled at the end of January and the cable car/jeep experience was closed due to weather. This is not the fault of the tour operator and the only reason for the 4 rating. We were offered an alternate experience that included wine, olive oil and honey tasting, visits to eruptions sites and caves, ending with a light lunch with wine at a local winery. Our guide Mirko was FANTASTIC! He was so knowledgeable about Mt. Etna and answered every question we threw at him. Despite not being able to get up to a higher level on the volcano, we appreciated being able to experience it on a different level. 5 stars for Mirko!
