Visiting the floating islands was quite an experience, the size of the lake impressive but mind the altitude at 3,800m!

Our boat trip across the lake to the floating islands was fascinating. Walking on a mat of reeds felt unsettling, but quite safe. The basic living arrangements were minimal as everything is built from local flora and food is mostly fish and birds! No electricity or utilities, but no taxes! Puno is a good sized town but the major attraction is obviously the lake activities

Operator response

We are delighted to know that you enjoyed the boat trip and had the opportunity to experience this fascinating traditional way of life built on totora reeds. Walking on the floating islands is certainly a unique and memorable experience that allows visitors to appreciate the history, culture, and ancestral traditions of the local communities. SUPERB MEMORY

The visit of Lake Titicaca, the floating islands of the Uros Indians and Amantani Island remains for us an unforgettable memory!!!!! The site is beautiful and the welcome of the Uro Indians, descendants of the Incas is touching and truly moving. Moreover, the Peruvian people are wonderfully kind. On the other hand, when sailing on Lake Titicaca, sunglasses essential following the strong reverberation of the sun on the water

MAJESTIC LAKE

Lake Titicaca is impressive, at almost 4,000 m high with about 60 km by 20 wide or a maximum depth of 500 meters. Super recommended
