Itinerary
“A journey back to the time of megafauna to understand the natural origins of Patagonia.” The Cueva del Milodón Natural Monument, located just a few kilometers from Puerto Natales, is one of the most fascinating places in Patagonia to understand its natural past. This site became world famous after the discovery of remains of the Mylodon, a gigantic ground sloth that inhabited the region during the Pleistocene, when Patagonia was dominated by massive glaciers and populated by megafauna. During this experience, we will walk along park trails and explore the enormous cave where these scientific discoveries were made. Along the way, we will observe the Patagonian landscape and learn how glaciers shaped this territory, what animals lived here during the last Ice Age, and how the first humans arrived in this region. More than a simple visit, this experience invites travelers to journey into the deep past of Patagonia.
