Beautiful scenic drive through the farms and canyon to a beautiful wine town. The tasting was the best wine I have sampled from a small family bodega while in Argentina. Our guide, Rodrigo, was personable and a nice person to spend the day with.
Thanks Melissa, I'm glad the group enjoyed the day. Come back, you'll be welcome!
This tour was an amazing experience. I don’t think the description does it justice. You drive through a canyon full of non stop stunning views for over an hour before reaching the wineries, which offer even more incredible scenery. Our tour guide, Rodrigo, was fantastic throughout the day. I can’t recommend this experience enough!
Thanks so much for your review, Jade, I am gald it all went well.
Magnificent walk, beautiful landscape with a very careful and friendly driver-guide. I really loved it. I spent one day in Cachi and another in Cafayate. He gave me good directions. He took me to buy the best alfajores I have ever tried in my life. Everything was wonderful.
Muchas gracias por los comentarios, Jose.
We had a really great day out exploring cafayate vineyards with our guide Rodrigo. The tour was really well organised and completely tailored based on our preferences discussed with Nick beforehand. Rodrigo was a very knowledgable guide for the day and showed us all the good spots. Overall a great experience.
Thanks Lucy, Rodrigo tells me it was a pleasure!
Super friendly and Inviting tour. Great destinations and lots of new experiences. I highly recommend if you want to experience something new with family or friends
Thanks Dorian, I'm pleased you had a good time with Rodrigo.
Really injoyed tasting the high altitude wines and discussing them with our guide Marinho. He had a really good knowledge af the local wines and the different wineries. The landcape on the drve from Salta to Cafajate were stunning and we had enough time to stop to take photos.
Thanks for your comments, Jo.
Very nice to have met Cafayate and some of its wineries with Nick and Conductor José, always very helpful. Worth going.
Muito obrigado pelas suas palavras. Estamos esperando por você novamente.
I booked a solo/private daytrip from Salta to Cafayate (and return) with Poncho Tours in December 2019. Mariano was my guide for the day and provided the tour in English. Mariano’s appreciation of wine culture made for great conversation, and provided very good insight into the region we visited. My interest was mostly in Torrontés, and Poncho Tours was flexible in recommending good options given we only had one-day. I got to visit 3 different vineyards for tastings, a mix of a bigger/more commercial one, to a smaller family run! A really good blend! Our first stop was Bodega El Esteco, with a bigger operation. The second stop was Bodega Burbujas de Altura, a smaller family run vineyards, where the owner himself spent almost 2 hours providing me insight into his production and did the tasting with me. This stop was definitively a highlight with more intimate visit, and their sparkling wine made from Torrontés grapes in the traditional method is a must try! The final stop was Bodega El Porvenir de Cafayate, where I got to try many different Torrontés: from the traditional one, to one fermented in oak barrels, to a sweeter version. Finally, the drive to/from Cafayate through the Quebrada de las Conchas was breathtaking, with stunning colourful vistas at every turn. We were able to stop at various points on route, to take in the view and for pictures. It makes for a very enjoyable drive! I would most definitively recommend booking with Poncho Tours for a tour tailored to your interest, with a knowledgable guide.
Thanks for the comments!
We had an amazing trip with Nick from Salta, down to Cafayate. We visited great wineries both large and small, new and old with fantastic wines and had a great leisurely lunch. Nick also took time along the drive to stop at various landmarks and notable views, which turned what was a long drive into part of the experience. I wouldn't hesitate to book another trip with them again on our next trip!
Thanks!
