Itinerary
Evora is a World Heritage site called by many the city-museum. You will visit it's most iconic sights at a historic walking tour and admire the numerous handicraft shops.
Évora has a massive set of defensive walls, dating from the Romans to the beginning of the 19th century. It's the first thing you see coming from Lisbon, with its doors.
Guided visit inside (included at your walking tour) 17th-century chapel covered with human bones. One-of-a-kind in Portugal for its size and very rare in Europe. Find out why!
Royal Church in Gothic and Manueline (Portuguese sumptuous late Gothic with maritime elements). Deeply connected with the history of Portugal, it was part of the once called Convent of Gold, so great was the decorative richness.
Come and meet the "Grace boys", the 4 granite giants on the façade of this church. And full of popular stories.
Crowds gathered here to watch the "autos de fé" (judgments of faith) during the long period of 300 years that the Inquisition lasted in Portugal. Évora's court was the most aggressive, judging 14,000 people, 88% for Judaism. In this memorial we remember the victims.
The heart of Évora since the 13th-century, now full of café terraces and local shops.
2,000 years old, the Roman temple is the best-known monument in Évora and one of the most important historical ruins in Portugal.
Guided tour inside. A work of Romanesque-Gothic transition; the Cathedral of Évora, the largest in Portugal, has some unique elements.
Once the center of the islamic Évora, the "suq", the comercial space next to the Great Mosque. Now is a street full of local products like cork pieces, painted furniture or pottery.

Evora was amazing with its Roman ruins and other historic architecture. Our guide Sandra was wonderful, picking us up at our hotel and then narrating as we drove to Evora. She suggested a wonderful place for lunch. Next, we went to a lovely winery that was both educational and had fabulous wines and snacks. We really love the private tours and the quality of the guides that typically do them - Sandra was just exceptional!
Hi Nancy, thank you so much for your kind feedback! I'm thrilled to hear that you had a great Évora tour. It's one of my favorites. So much history! The winery we visited won a major award the week after your trip - so happy that you could enjoy it in advance :) And thank you for rating me as exceptional, I'm honored. Can’t wait to welcome you back ;) Sandra
