Mutrah stretches along an attractive corniche of latticed buildings and mosques; it looks spectacular at sunset when the light casts shadows across the serrated crescent of mountains, while pavements, lights and fountains invite an evening stroll
Many people come to Mutrah Corniche just to visit the souq, which retains the chaotic interest of a traditional Arab market albeit housed under modern timber roofing. Shops selling Omani and Indian artefacts together with a few antiques jostle among more traditional textile, hardware and jewellery stores
Al Alam Palace is the ceremonial palace of His Majesty the Sultan. The palace is located in the heart of the Old Muscat, it is surrounded by the Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts and will soon be facing the upcoming National Museum of Oman. Former Sultan’s used to live in a house called Bait Al Alam which was demolished in the early 70s to build this new Palace in its place to be the official residence of the Sultan of Oman.

We were unfortunately not picked up by the guide. We arrived on time and waited 45 minutes. The guide had tried to change the agreed start time. We did not receive the message as there is no WiFi in the port. Viator doesn't feel obligated either. We paid for a tour, which unfortunately we did not receive. No more Viator! Extremely unfriendly to customers!
Thank you for your feedback. To clarify — our guests are picked up from different locations, so the exact start time cannot be the same for everyone. That is why we clearly state in our policy that guests must be reachable before the tour, as the confirmed pickup time is sent one day in advance. We sent your confirmed start time via the website messaging system and WhatsApp the day before the tour. All other guests received it and arrived on time. We regret that you missed the tour due to connectivity issues at the port, however it is important that guests ensure they can receive last‑minute updates before the tour.

Had a great trip with Mohammed. He is very polite, positive and courteous and gave us all a great insight into Muscat. He was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions in depth. He arrived on time at my hotel after communicating the pick up time earlier in the day. I found him to be a very safe driver. I would highly recommend this tour.
This was one of the best tours I have been on! The tour guide Mohammed Aldighaisi was knowledgeable, kind, informative, and nice. I really enjoyed being on his tour and learning so much about Oman. I would highly recommend this tour and Mohammed Aldighashi. He is simply the best!
The tour is accurate in its description and is fairly standard. Mohammed did bring a lot of personality and passion in his role and it shows up throughout the tour.

Very nice trip. The buildings in evening lighting are very special. The guide was very nice and tried. His English was very good, so you could easily understand him. That evening it was a group size of 3 people, which made it very individual.

The tour was very relaxed. Mak, our guide was friendly and told a lot about the (outside) visited buildings. We were also very lucky that there was just a national holiday in Oman and so everything was even more illuminated. However, there was a bit of melancholy, as we had no indoor visits. Of course, we were aware of this in advance.

Jamal was a super nice and excellent guide. The length was perfect, we heard interesting details e.g. of Oman and Sultan and had nice time in souq.
Highly recommend this group tour. Highlights are numerous. Loved the Muttrah souque,( probably spelt wrong). and the Opera house and Sultans palace . Won't give more secrets away. Could be that it will not be operating due end of season. Many tours don't operate . I was lucky. Check with operator before booking.. Always enjoy the tours that Viator offer. Many companies to choose from. Muscat like all Gulf countries are well worth visiting
