Wonderful experience! Required some hiking but nothing too challenging. Our guide-Mateo- was so knowledgeable and fun and professional. It was only a group 8 which was nice and we enjoyed the other people as well. We made some other great stops on the way back to Catania that were great too. I would highly recommend this trip if you could get Mateo. 🙂
We do not recommend it. We booked with this company for €35/person but then they take you with another company (Katane Live) in an open bus (the signs at this company's office indicate that they are not responsible for the weather when you take the bus. When we booked with the other, we did not know anything about this). With Katane, the same tour is €30. When we booked online, we paid €10/person for reservation. Upon arriving at the Etna Sicily Touring headquarters we asked how to pay the rest and the girl indicated that we would pay the guide later. The guide turned out to be the grumpy bus driver who when we told him that we did not have cash (no one indicated to us that they only accepted cash) told us in a rude manner that he would not take us back to Catania. Evidently, there is an ATM at Refugio Sapienza, but we had to ask if it existed. The audio guide provided on the bus is not audible (it is an open bus and there is a lot of noise outside) and they also do not inform you to bring headphones. We arrived at 1:15 PM and the driver told us that he was leaving at 4:00 PM and would not wait for anyone. This annoyed us because we had been promised 3 full hours and on the signs of Etna Sicily. Touring mentioned that we would return at 4:30 PM. Before going down, a girl got on to explain the options you have (another 10 minutes wasted): since the cable car was not working, she indicated that going by bus would involve hours of waiting (according to her); seeing the Silvestri craters would be extremely boring (according to her) and the best option would be to take a quad tour, which was very easy to drive and where we would have a guide for ourselves, we would see a cave and active parts of the volcano. Only cash payments are accepted. I assume this girl was an employee of the quad company. We chose this option but we had to hurry to return to the bus and the only thing we did was move away from the volcano and see a very disappointing cave. The quad experience was good but we could do it in a different place. any other place. We hurried back to catch the bus and, to our surprise, the driver made a stop to do a honey tasting in a nearby village, which was not indicated when booking the tour. There was no need to rush. Everything went wrong, do not hire them. The best choice for sailing from Split! The boat is fantastic!

II tour panoramico viene effettuato con partner autorizzati nei periodi di maggiore affluenza, pratica comune e sempre finalizzata a garantire la partenza del servizio prenotato. Il prezzo include non solo il trasporto, ma anche l’assistenza alla prenotazione e il supporto del nostro staff. Per quanto riguarda il pagamento, le informazioni relative al saldo e alle modalità accettate vengono normalmente comunicate al momento della prenotazione; ci dispiace se in questo caso non sono risultate abbastanza chiare. Anche sui tempi di permanenza al Rifugio Sapienza, il programma può subire variazioni operative legate al traffico, alle condizioni meteo o all’organizzazione generale del tour. Ci dispiace inoltre se il comportamento dell’autista è stato percepito come scortese: non è lo standard che desideriamo offrire ai nostri clienti e faremo le opportune verifiche interne. Per le attività opzionali in quota (quad, funivia, ecc.), desideriamo precisare che si tratta di servizi esterni e facoltativi, proposti direttamente dagli operatori presenti sul posto, senza alcun obbligo di acquisto. Infine, la sosta degustazione è una breve tappa tipica dei tour dell’Etna molto apprezzata dalla maggior parte dei visitatori, anche se comprendiamo che possa non incontrare i gusti di tutti. Siamo sinceramente dispiaciuti che l’esperienza non sia stata all’altezza delle sue aspettative e la ringraziamo comunque per aver condiviso il suo feedback, che prenderemo in considerazione per migliorare ulteriormente il servizio offerto.
We've had a trip with Mateo. Great guide. Knows a lot about history, geology and biology. Very funny and showed us a lot of interesting places. Would love to do it again!
Our guide Matteo was great. We learned many interesting things about Mount Etna, the wildlife and plants. He drove extra carefully so that we could tolerate the many turns well. He was very friendly and affable.
Marco was the BEST guide, he was full of information and super helpful with the walk and accommodating for our group of mixed walking abilities. It was a such a cool experience getting up close to Mt. Etna, even if you don’t get out of the car it was a must do activity!
Very friendly people, we were only accompanied to Mount Etna and then from there we had 3 hours turn that for those around there are also many but in the end there we enjoyed it, it may seem a bit 'so much the cost but m is worth it and the price because it is along the way and you do not notice it for the beautiful company of the trip. I highly recommend it because it is a sight, it is worth it if you want to visit Etna, even better organized with all the right equipment than found there in the store

Thomas was a fountain of knowledge both on history and anecdotes, very attentive to all of us in spite of the large group. Atypical in the hike path we took. We crested a col and discovered snow-covered Etna with a sea of cold lava below us. Absolutely spectacular. We extended the tour well into the late afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, visiting the caves.
We left with our three children (10, 7 and 2 and a half years) in the company of the guide, Mario for a trek on Mount Etna. The beautiful day, the snow and the excellent organization allowed you to experience the emotions of the walk on a flat level. The flagship was Mario who entertained us from morning to late afternoon, telling us many interesting things, ranging from the history of the volcano to that of Sicily, from geology to geography. Mario also made the walk flexible, based on our many needs, patiently. We promised that if we return to Catania, we will do the climb again from another side, with him.Thanks
