The Gathering & Access Point: Meet your official, certified guide at the North Access. Upon arrival, look for the Caminito del Rey staff wearing the dark blue uniform. Simply introduce yourself to the staff member and state that your reservation is with Discovering Spain. You will need to provide the name on your booking, the number of people in your party, and your scheduled tour time. All this essential information is clearly printed on your voucher.
Walk through the initial path and the first suspended walkways. The guide will focus on the Caminito's dramatic history: its construction in the early 1900s, the dangers workers faced, and the reasons King Alfonso XIII commissioned it. This section sets the stage for the gorge.
As the initial path gives way to the vertical rock faces, prepare yourself for the main event. You are about to step onto the legendary suspended walkways—an engineering feat visible from space. This section is where the Caminito earns its reputation. Pause to appreciate the sheer scale of the Gaitanes Gorge, marvel at the crystal-clear water 100 meters below, and get your camera ready. Your guide will ensure you capture the best views while sharing lesser-known facts about the trail's daring reconstruction.
This is the heart of the Caminito, where the walkways are suspended highest above the Gaitanes Gorge. The guide will interpret the incredible geological formations, the river, and the unique flora and fauna of the area. There will be designated moments for photography.
Complete the final section and the path towards the exit near El Chorro. The guide will conclude the tour with information on the reconstruction process and its modern use as a natural park. The guide will direct you to the official exit points and the available shuttle bus stop (Note: Shuttle bus fee is separate and not included).

It was a bit tricky to find the place to meet the guide. You have to walk abort 15 minutes after you've parked your car. No information on the direction, but you have to trust the GPS.

our experience lasted around 2 hours, the guide (Cristobal) was friendly and informative. the staff speak English as well as Spanish and other languages as well. there was no reception on mobile phones to show our tickets however we just stated our name on tickets and that was fine. alternatively take a screen shot of the tickets and bar/QR code

Very strenuous but extraordinary. Our guide, whose name I forgot - maybe Anita or Amy, was a tiny woman with nonstop energy and enthusiasm. Getting to the start of the tour and from the end to the starting point should be factored in because it adds to the difficulty. That said, I am glad we had such an incredible adventure!

Adventurous walking tour through the valley and along the rocks

We booked a tour as the general entry tickets were not available, if they are available I suggest to skip a tour. The tour adds very little. The hardest part of this walk is finding where to enter and then returning to your point of entry with the shuttle bus. Neither of which the tour helps with at all. They meet you at the north access and they leave you before finding the shuttle bus. What the tour is for I couldn’t really say. They provide you with a head set to listen to the guide but the quality of the sound was so poor you couldn’t understand. It was just noise in your ears so I removed my headphones within 5 minutes. The staff that greet you were not friendly and when we arrived helped to make you feel like a herded animal with comments like ‘I will remove the chain, once I’ve removed chain you can move forward to collect your helmet’. There was literally nothing to recommend this tour. Provided you book early enough to get the general entry tickets just do that. You need to find the entry point and navigate the shuttle bus yourself but with the tour you do that anyway.

Regarding the guided tour itself, its purpose is to provide historical, geological and cultural context throughout the route. We regret that the audio equipment did not meet your expectations, as this is an important part of the experience. As for the check-in process, Caminito del Rey receives a very high volume of visitors every day and access must be carefully managed to ensure safety, group organization and compliance with capacity regulations. We are sorry if this process felt impersonal to you, although the instructions given by staff are intended solely to facilitate an orderly and safe entrance for all visitors.
