Itinerary
Dr. Frank H. Wadsworth, a former forest supervisor and director of the IITF, constructed this 69-foot tower in the early 1960s. On a clear day, the Virgin Islands may be seen from Yokah Tower, along with the coastline and four different types of forest: Colorado (smooth to the south), Tabonuco (irregular surrounding with white-leaved Yagrumos), Palm (on the steep slopes), and Cloud Forest (on the peaks). To the east, in the upper Mameyes Valley, is the deep ancient forest of the Bao de Oro Research Natural Area.
La Coca Falls is a magnificent waterfall, rising 1,476 feet (450 meters) above sea level! La Coca Cascades' water falls 85 feet (26 meters) to the bottom of the falls, where it meets a massive rock formation. The location is ideal for taking pictures.
Embark on an unforgettable adventure at the Puente Roto, or "Broken Bridge," recreation site – a hidden gem nestled along the Rio Mameyes' recreation segment. Recognized by Congress as a Wild and Scenic River for its breathtaking natural beauty, this undiscovered haven promises an immersive experience in an undeveloped oasis. Features: Water Wonderland: Dive into the spacious water play area created by the river's width, offering the perfect setting for swimming, wading, and riverside picnics. ️ Location: Discover this pristine retreat at Road 988 km 2.7, where tranquility meets nature's splendor. Safety First: ⚠️ Weather Watch: Stay informed about changing weather conditions and potential flash floods to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. Leave No Trace: Embrace environmental responsibility by packing out your trash, preserving the beauty of the river. Let's protect this natural haven together!

I enjoyed this tour because there was a bit of everything included. Puerto Rican history along our route, a stop at local frutera stand with tasty smoothies, a calm brief walk through the rainforest, a tremendous view atop the tower, a visual wonder of a waterfall, a relaxing river experience ( you won’t want to get out), and fantastic foodie haven at Kiosks. Then swam at Luquillo beach. A perfect day. Our guide, Angel, was friendly, helpful, informative and professional. A day filled with a lot of wonders but not strenuous
Great for convenience. Our guide Rafael was so friendly and made the tour entertaining. Everyone had a lovely time :)
Very enjoyable tour. Rafael is a great tour guide. Took good care of us ,very informative. Always had a smile. Thank you
Bring a towel and shoes to walk in the river. Also bring sunscreen and your water proof bag. Make sure you don’t bring anything valuable that can be damaged.
Friendly, knowledgeable tour guide. Raphael kept us entertained the whole time! Great for people who are not avid hikers
The tour was very mellow, a great way to see El Yunque and the Loquillo beach. Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the forest.
The rainforest is beautiful and I really wanted to have the best time on this excursion. Unfortunately that was not the case. The nature walk felt forced with random thoughts from the driver but it was beautiful. On the drive our driver did not stop at the waterfall and instructed us to take pictures from our window in the vehicle, he said we would perhaps stop on the way back … but he did not and we were again told to take pictures from the vehicle, yes it was busy but we could have waited 5 minutes for a spot especially since it had been raining and we were not going to be going in the River. It was very disappointing to NOT stop at the waterfall. We briefly stopped at the river for a quick photo. We also only received 15 minutes at the tower. We then were dropped off at Luquillo beach which was beautiful but we had over two hours there and were completely rushed the entire rest of the tour. So, yes book a tour for the rainforest but I do not recommend this one.
Highly recommend this for those looking for an easy way to catch some highlights of El Yunque and spend time at Luquillo Beach without the hassle of driving/parking there. Pickup from San Juan was punctual and easy. The guides Rafael and Joshua were friendly and informative. The nature walk was not difficult, and then there were fun stops at the river (I thought it was too cold for swimming but enjoyed dipping feet it) and climbing the observation tower for better views. We got to the beach around 1 and got a couple of hours for lunch/walking on the beach, which was nice. We were back at hotel after 4. Bring water, snacks, and wear layers/rain jacket for the rainforest.
Great tour! Knowledgeable and super friendly guide! Beautiful place!!! I was a bit hesitant because I was having some slight physical issues, but it wasn’t a problem at all.
We had a great time! The tour guide is very knowledgeable and showed up on time. He showed us many unique things on the tour and I would highly recommend. Very good tour guide.
