El Calafate: From Glaciers to Forest Trails and Cascades

Embark on this adventure as you leave from your hotel in El Calafate.

Let's start our first navigation! We will sail through Témpanos Channel and enter Mayo Branch of Lake Argentino, where we can see the glaciers of Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro from the water. We will then disembark at Toro Bay for a guided walk through the Patagonian Andean forest, visiting a waterfall. From the lake shore, enjoy views of the hanging glaciers on Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro.

Prepare for a delightful exploration as we disembark at Bahía Toro. Guided by our expert, we’ll embark on a 700-meter interpretative walk through the mesmerizing Andean Patagonian forest. The terrain is flat and easy, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable hike for everyone. As we stroll through this lush landscape, we'll be treated to stunning views of the hanging glaciers on Cerro Mayo and Cerro Negro from the lakeshore. Our journey culminates at a beautiful waterfall, offering a perfect moment to connect with the natural wonders of Patagonia. After our delightful hike, we’ll return to the boat and set sail once again. In just 15 minutes, we’ll arrive at our next exciting destination…

Disembark at Cerro Negro and join our guide for an invigorating 1-kilometer (one-way) hike along the beautiful Piedras River. This moderately challenging trek, with a gentle incline, will lead us through the Andean Patagonian forest and bring us within meters of the base of Cerro Negro. At the end of the trail, we’ll reach a breathtaking viewpoint offering a 360° panoramic vista. From here, you can marvel at the dramatic Cerro Negro Glacier and the hanging Mayo Norte Glacier, which feeds the river we followed. Take some time to capture stunning photographs of this remarkable landscape. After enjoying the incredible scenery, we’ll return to the boat for a short sail to our next destination.

We are now embarking on a breathtaking journey as we set sail towards the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier. Enjoy a leisurely lunch aboard as we navigate through stunning landscapes (don't forget to bring your own box lunch!). Our route will take us to the northern face of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Once we reach this spectacular destination, we’ll glide slowly along the glacier’s towering northern wall, allowing ample time to soak in its immense beauty. As we continue our journey, we’ll exit the Seno Mayo of Lake Argentino and re-enter the Canal de los Témpanos. Prepare to be captivated by one of Patagonia’s most iconic natural wonders as we cruise alongside the glacier’s majestic ice walls!

We’ll disembark at Puerto Perito Moreno and board a bus to the observation walkways, accompanied by our guide. Here, you’ll have ample free time to explore the various platforms and enjoy breathtaking views of the Perito Moreno Glacier from different vantage points. Be sure to check the return time with the captain, and if you wish, you can take a shuttle bus to the first viewpoint with our guide. After your glacier exploration, we’ll regroup and return to the boat. We’ll then set sail back to Puerto Punta Bandera, completing our incredible journey. Enjoy the scenic return trip as we navigate through the picturesque waters to our original departure point.

Upon arriving at the port, we’ll disembark and begin our journey back to El Calafate. Enjoy a comfortable transfer as we head towards your hotel, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences of the day.
