Eger is one of the most fascinating sites in Hungary! See the country’s second-largest church, wander down beautiful Baroque streets and see the northernmost Turkish medieval minaret in Europe. The Eger region is known for its production of high-quality reds and whites. You will visit two local wineries where you will get to taste 6-7 excellent wines accompanied by cold snack. Lunch at a local restaurant is also included in the tour price (one main dish of your choice, plus mineral water and coffee). Wander down Széchenyi Street and Dobó István Square to take in the Minorite Church and splendid Baroque and Rococo houses. You will visit the ruins of the city’s castle, where you will be rewarded with glorious panoramic views.

Our tour guide, Stephen (the tall man) was the perfect guide for our group of 4. He picked us up in a beautiful luxury van (with a very professional driver) exactly on time in front of our apartment. We then drove to Eger and enjoyed the most glorious day of food and wine I’ve ever experienced. We tasted 12 different wines and had lunch at a Michelin starred restaurant. The variety of wines was outstanding and tasty! The food was absolutely exquisite. Stephen was very professional, friendly and fun. As the day progressed and the wines flowed, our group got sillier and Stephen kept up with the flow of the day while keeping us engaged and answering all of our questions.

Stefan the tall man led us, with his driver Leslie, to Eger, 2 vineyards/tasting rooms and lunch. Engaging, knowledgeable, patient and smart is how we’d describe Stefan. Thoroughly enjoyed our day. Relaxing, informative and fun. Thank you Stefan!

I traveled to Budapest with my husband and mother. I did multiple activities through Sweet Travel Private Tours. I worked with Kata Gyevat Dobo for months prior to the trip. She was amazing and organized my entire itinerary for us. She answered every email in a timely manner, planned every detail, and was available on short notice once we were in Hungary. Our guide was the same for every activity. His name was Stephen (the tall guy). He was OUTSTANDING!!!!! I cannot say enough good things about him. He was kind, attentive to my mother, very smart and knowledgeable about everywhere we visited but also of Hungary in general, funny, warm, and exactly who we would want to spend so much time with. My mother actually considers him family at this point. We were all sad to have said good-bye to him. If ever back in Hungary, I would only do activities if Stephen (the tall guy) was my guide!! I am so grateful to this team for their help and for making my visit to Hungary with my family so special. It was a very special trip and one that we will all remember forever!!

Joseph picked us up at 9:00 am. He was wonderful, the car was a nice clean Mercedes and the drive was easy and comfortable. He told us a great deal about Hungary and the countryside. We had a wine tasting at one of the local vineyards. It was superb, 6 different wines and then off to lunch at a local restaurant, lunch was very nice. Then a stroll around the city and then to second wine tasting and tour. The wine tasting events and tours were way better than anything we have had in the States. The drive back to the hotel was easy and comfortable. Many thanks to Joseph for wonderful, wonderful day! George

Thank you to our tour guide, Christine, and driver, Peter, for a wonderful day for our party of five. They picked us up at our Airbnb on time, the van was very comfortable, Christine was very knowledgeable (and spoke English very well) and entertaining, and the two wineries selected were unique with good wines and good hosts. We also walked through the town and had a good lunch. Overall, it was a great day! I highly recommend this tour.

First-class guide included conversation on Hungarian history which I thoroughly enjoyed on the ride over to Eger from Budapest and back. A tour and tasting of two local excellent wineries, lunch in a local fine hotel, a brief walking tour of Eger a charming town not to be missed, and the opportunity to purchase some of the local famous wines. Highly recommended and I live in the Napa Wine Area of California!
