Great private beach where we stop for a refreshment, plenty of English local pubs and cafes to explore. Rottingdean Beach is a pebble beach near Brighton on the East Sussex coast. It is a peaceful and picturesque spot, and a perfect escape from the bustling crowds and backed by imposing cliffs. It is safe to swim at Rottingdean Beach, and there are lifeguards on duty during the summer months. There is even a basketball court on the beach by the carpark. This beach is on the Undercliff Walk which runs from Rottingdean towards Brighton Marina. For a brief spell in the 1930s and 40s, Rottingdean was the go-to place for Hollywood’s finest, and actor Cary Grant loved the village. He stayed there whenever he was filming in the UK. Rottingdean is the home of Cluedo In the local museum at The Grange, there’s a copy of the original version of this classic board game, with an introduction that states there’s been a murder at Tudor Close, you can see the house!!

35 min

As an Option for the tour we can climb from the seafront to the top of the South Downs for the 360 degree scenic views of the coast and South Downs. Ride the chalky trails of the South Downs back into Brighton via the Brighton Race Course, downhill all the way to Brighton Seafront for a refreshment stop at black Rock bars next to the 50m outdoor pool.

40 min

Refreshments stop at the beach side bar. Black Rock is an area of beach and promenade located to the west of Brighton Marina and south of Sussex Square in Kemptown in the city of Brighton and Hove. It is one of the terminus stations of the Volk's railway, hosts a 200-year-old living wall, designated as a local wildlife site and including ninety plants such as Euonymus japonicus

15 min

Ride back along the seaside bike lane to Hove Lawns, go through Brunswick Square gardens and back to the meeting point.

Great itinerary! Top notch bikes

Great experience of the white cliffs and the downs. E-bikes were top notch and we needed them to get up some otherwise challenging routes on a regular bike— areas we never would have found on our own. Guide was patient and fun. One of the best 3 hour e-bike itineraries we’ve experienced to date..
