The markets were...

The markets were impressive . Definitely needed a tour guide to maneuver it and Dennise was great. She anticipated our every need and kept asking us if we needed anything.. The food selection was amazing and plentiful. We enjoyed all 3 markets. The mexcal tasting at the last market was a special treat. We tasted a variety of mezcales with different critters including scorpions, worms and others. It was well worth the money. Dennise even gave us keepsakes from our tour. I highly recommend this tour.

Amazing experience

This tour is amazing, you get taken around 3 markets with lots of explanations of the various ingredients and foods. Ivan is great and really knowledgeable. Certainly a great experience I am glad I didn’t miss out on.

Disappointing food experience

Having had a fabulous food tour in Oaxaca a week earlier we found this tour disappointing. The guide was a delight, but there was no discussion about the vast varieties of fruits and vegetables in the markets. We had little sampling of sweets and some more substantial tastings, but nothing memorable

Savouring Mexico City, One Market at a Time

We just completed an exceptional guided food markets tour that was both delicious and genuinely enriching. Our guide shared insights in clear, manageable portions that made it easy to absorb the deeper cultural significance of Mexico’s markets while also learning about everyday life in Mexico City, from transportation to local customs. The tastings were perfectly paced and thoughtfully portioned, and each of the three markets revealed a distinct side of Mexican culture. Attentive, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout, our guide made the entire experience feel seamless and memorable.

Markets/Food/Mezcal

Great experience braving the heart of the Mercado where we would not have likely gone alone. Our guides were informative and fun. We got to try lots of new things: dry mole/local fruits/corn fungus and squash blossom quesadillas. I recommend this tour if you want to see more of how the locals live.

Wonderful Mexico City food and market (3) tour with Ivan

We loved our guide, Ivan. There were 7 of us and at least 1/2 had health problems that necessitated frequent stops to rest because of orthopedic problems. He was so accommodating and we appreciated that immensely. Ivan is very sweet and personable, with a very warm smile. We had great meals that allowed us to sample Mexico City’s regional food. Although the walk was long, (probably 3+ miles) it was manageable for a 71 year old woman who had a total knee replacement 6 months prior.

It’s yummy

You get to eat foods you have never had in the US including tarantula infused mezcal. Great tómales, sweets & quesadillas. Our guide,Ivan, was phenomenal—knowledgeable, able to provide context , enthusiastic, funny and easy to understand. Can’t say enough good things about him!

Highly Recommended Market Tour; Great Food and Guide

I really enjoyed this tour. Communication was excellent, the itinerary was well organized, and our guide navigated the market confidently while keeping the group safe and together. We sampled a great variety of foods and drinks and saw far more of the market than we ever could have on our own. Transportation costs for the subway and bus were included, and the tour began with a helpful overview of how to get around the city. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to answer every question along the way. A quick tip: stay mindful of your belongings in crowded areas. Someone in our group had a brief pickpocket attempt but quickly recovered their phone. It reinforced how valuable it was to experience the market with a guided tour. Overall, a fantastic experience—highly recommended.
