East Berlin Food Tour with Berlin Wall and Craft Beer

Description
East Berlin doesn't just have history, it is history. From the scars of World War II to the fall of the Berlin Wall, this once divided, grey corner of the city has transformed into one of Europe's most diverse, vibrant, and culturally rich neighbourhoods. On this 3-hour walking tour, you'll taste your way through that transformation. Meet the international communities who've made East Berlin their own: a Syrian family running a supper club, Vietnamese fusion at a street stall, the legendary currywurst eaten the way locals do. Every stop has a story, and your expert guide will bring it to life. Get a genuine local experience, not a crowded coach tour. Berlin is also one of Europe's most celebrated vegan cities, and East Berlin is at the heart of it. Plant-based guests are warmly welcomed, just add a dietary note at booking, and we'll take care of the rest.

Itinerary
Start your tour with a typical Berlin-style Döner Kebab - a dish that’s eaten over 400,000 times every day in Berlin, paired with a Club Mate Drink.
At a welcoming Syrian-Levantine restaurant, you’ll savor metabal and Mezze, a dip made from smoked aubergine, tahini, garlic, and lemon, with a homebrewed beer, while your guide shares stories of Berlin’s recent immigrants, their integration, and how they’ve shaped local life.
Pass by one of the last remaining Berlin Squat Houses that has hosted political and educational events and activities, alongside live concerts, for nearly a decade.
Step into a trendy, neon-lit Vietnamese street food spot where you’ll try the flavorful TyTy Taco, filled with marinated chicken, pickled red onions, and sweetcorn.
This vibrant alternative complex was once an imperial rail yard, Soviet factory, and Deutsche Bahn warehouse. Today, it buzzes with art galleries, indie labels, nightclubs, beer gardens, a bouldering hall, and Berlin’s largest indoor skate park.
Visit Berlin’s most famous currywurst spot to taste the city’s iconic street food, served mit Darm (with casing), while hearing the story of how currywurst was invented and became a local legend.
Stop by a Turkish nuts and sweets shop to pick up your dessert: a bag of freshly mixed caramelised nuts, the perfect sweet-and-crunchy treat to enjoy as you end the tour.
This historic open-air art gallery centers around the longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall. Standing at just over 1.3 miles from end to end, each individual segment is coated in a colorful and often politically-themed mural that has been in place for over twenty years.

We had a very pleasant walk with Lily. She knew much about life in Berlin and its history. The stops were interesting, the food was delicious and plentiful. In spite of the hot temperatures Lily was a breath of fres air.
Great tour with great food. I’m in Berlin solo for a weekend and the guide, Anastasia, gave me lots of recommendations of things to do in the city. East Berlin feels much more like a real city than the city center, highly recommend this tour for younger people interested in food, history, politics, music. My one note is that the instructions said to be at the meeting spot 15 minutes early, but the guide did not arrive until the tour was about to start, so if you do book the tour I’d say no need to show up early since you’ll just be waiting.
Try pray we had a Wonderful tour with Anastasia! She took us to 4 different locations with 4 different delicious type of food. She was incredibly knowable, and a very interesting person! I would absolutely recommend her! 10/10!
Wonderful guide (Anastasia) and tasty food! She taught us a lot of cultural history and was super knowledgeable.
Dear Anastasia’s mother, The Major family are proud to inform you that your daughter is an excellent steward of East Berlin and its culinary heritage. Anastasia approached our tour—not as a paid tour guide—but as a long-time friend who was showing us our way through a part of the country she loves. Anastasia took time to know us and to share some details about herself. The Aleppo Supper Club and NYOM were not only the highlights of today but also the culinary highlights of our visit in Deutschland. You should know that, despite Berlin’s weather presenting like Satan’s playground with near-record heat, Anastasia bravely traversed the lava-like concrete with a smile on her face as she taught us about East Berliner culture, history, and food. We are truly grateful for her time, expertise, and joy today.
Wonderful tour by Anastasia! Really interesting and helped our view and understanding of Berlin.
