Dynjandi & more shore tour from Ísafjörður port for cruise guests

Description
Make the most of your time ashore with this carefully crafted excursion from the port of Ísafjörður — designed to showcase the untamed beauty and hidden gems of Iceland’s Westfjords. Unlike typical tours, this journey takes you off the beaten path to places most travelers never reach. We’ll pass through the charming fishing village of Bolungarvík and, weather permitting, visit one of Iceland’s most breathtaking viewpoints, perched high above the cliffs. Step back in time at traditional turf-roofed fisherman’s huts and experience how early Icelanders lived by the sea. The highlight is the majestic Dynjandi waterfall — considered by many to be Iceland’s most beautiful. Hidden deep in the fjords, it’s a true natural wonder rarely seen by visitors. This small-group tour offers a rare chance to discover the raw, authentic side of Iceland — far from the crowds and full of culture, history, and unforgettable views.

Itinerary
Cross one of Iceland’s longest tunnels (5.5 km) and arrive at Bolungarvík, a remote fishing village tucked between towering cliffs and the sea. With just 1,000 residents and one of Iceland’s oldest ports, it’s a hidden gem rich in history and charm.
Just 3 years ago, Bolungarvík opened its boldest attraction: a cliff-edge viewing platform atop Mount Bolafjall, 628 meters above sea level. Suspended by 60 tons of steel, it offers thrilling views over the village, dramatic fjords, and even, on clear days, all the way to Greenland. Dare to step out and see Iceland from above!
Step back in time and discover how Icelanders fished before motorboats and harbors. In Bolungarvík, learn how brave fishermen rowed into icy waters and how farmers became seafarers during the winter months. A powerful glimpse into Iceland’s rugged past and deep bond with the sea.
This striking red-and-white lighthouse stands proudly above Iceland’s dramatic coastline, offering panoramic views of the wild North Atlantic. A true hidden gem, it’s the perfect stop for travelers seeking a picture-perfect moment and a deeper connection with the raw beauty of the Icelandic coast.
Often called “the Bridal Veil” for the delicate white curtain it creates over the rocks, this breathtaking waterfall is considered by many to be the most beautiful in Iceland. Though it remains off the typical tourist trail, hidden deep within the Westfjords, its remote location only adds to its magic. Thanks to our strategic stop from the port of Ísafjörður, you’ll have the rare chance to witness this hidden gem — a true natural wonder that few travelers ever get to see.

This was free entry.. This is well worth seeing however it is a bit of a climb to get near it.There are viewing points at different levels if you didn’t want to get to the top. The upper part of the climb is over rocks. There are multiple clean toilets at the base of the waterfall if required.
What a wonderful tour. Martin, our guide/driver was very informative, friendly and courteous. He explained everything about where we were going and what we would be seeing and doing. He was extremely knowledgeable of Icelandic folklore and traditions and had a talent for passing it on to the members of the tour. He went above and beyond and made the experience unforgettable for all of us.
The tour Company, Tours Islandia, went above and beyond to ensure the quality of their tours. The tour company was professional, courteous and ethical. The driver and guide were great. Their communications to myself was phenomenal throughout the experience. I would definitely recommend them for tours around Iceland.
The bus driver/guide was excellent. He was knowledgeable about Iceland and was entertaining. It is a family run business and his family we're all extremely nice and helpful. I would recommend using this company.

We weren't picked up at the terminal. We had inquired because the pick-up time was unclear. The email we received was not clear again. Eventually it was resolved and we were able to do the tour. Alexander was very vague about this. He even said that he had forgotten to pick people up but that it was a one-off. We were there🤓. Unclear communication, not used to viator
We had an amazing experience and got to see so much on this wonderful tour. Jonathan was a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed learning about Icelandic fishing and all the places in between. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

A very nice, long morning. Seeing Iceland that only a small group can see easily. Our tour guide/driver Jonathan was engaging and informed. Dynjandi waterfall was spectacular. However note that at busy times the climb, to me, felt a bit risky. Not because of the terrain which is uneven but because a lot of people are tired and challenged by the climb. That is a note not a reflection of Icelandia Tours.
Hello Kevan, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and leave us such a thoughtful review. We're delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable morning and that you were able to discover some of the Westfjords' most special places in a small-group setting. We're especially pleased to hear your kind words about Jonathan—we'll be sure to pass them along, and we're certain he'll truly appreciate them. We also appreciate your comments about the trail to Dynjandi during busy times. You're absolutely right that when the area is crowded, the hike can require a bit more care, particularly for visitors who may be feeling tired. We truly value your feedback and appreciate you pointing out that this observation does not reflect the quality of our tour. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we hope to welcome you back to Iceland in the future for more unforgettable adventures. We look forward to seeing you again! Kind regards, The ToursIslandia Team
First, we had booked for an 11 am trip, but at 9am Viator sent a text saying that it had changed to 10am. It was lucky that I saw this text, otherwise we would have missed the bus. Second, some of the other passengers were on a different boat (their time had been changed as well) and had a 4pm departure time. Ours was 7:30.This meant that to get them back on time we had to rush our visit to the best part of the trip (the big waterfall) where we had only 30 minutes, which was not enough time to fully appreciate it. Also, the driver made an incorrect decision and was lost for about 5 minutes before turning around. This did not help the time problem. Also the driver made only minimal attempts at telling us stuff about Iceland. and this trip. So, overall this was not a great experience.
Hello Steve_H, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We understand how frustrating it must have been to receive a last-minute schedule change. While departure time updates are managed through the booking platform and are sometimes necessary to accommodate operational changes, we completely understand the inconvenience this caused. Regarding the timing at the waterfall, on some cruise days we need to coordinate with guests returning to different ships with different departure times. We always do our best to balance the schedule so that everyone can return safely and on time, but we're sorry that this meant you felt rushed at what should have been one of the highlights of the tour. We also appreciate your comments about the guide. Providing interesting information about Iceland and ensuring a smooth experience are very important to us, and we will review your feedback with our team to see how we can improve. Thank you again for your honest comments. Feedback like yours helps us continue improving our tours, and we hope we may have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future. Warm regards, The ToursIslandia Team
This excursion was very good. Our guide Victoria did a great job. She told a lot about the history of Iceland. She was very quiet and we had a nice day with her. We can warmly recommend her.
Highly recommended. The guide is very good, and there is enough time at the stops. I would do it again.
