Dubrovnik Food and Drink Walking Tour with a Local Guide

Description
On this 3-hour food and drink tour in the Old City of Dubrovnik, discover authentic flavours and history guided by a licensed local expert. As much a history tour as a food tour, it weaves together centuries of culture and gastronomy through one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities. You'll visit 4 spots along the way: a street food place, two traditional family-run restaurants and a dessert spot owned by a pastry chef who previously worked in a Michelin-starred restaurant. With over 10 tastings and three local wines paired throughout, you'll try recipes still cooked in Dubrovnik homes today, some prepared only on specific days of the year, and dishes rooted in 16th and 19th century tradition from the era of the Dubrovnik Republic. The tour ends with handcrafted desserts and a glass of local liqueur or coffee. Small groups keep things personal and unhurried.

Itinerary
The Large Onofrio's Fountain is a prominent landmark in Dubrovnik, Croatia, also a meeting point for our food tour. Located at the entrance of Dubrovnik's Old Town, near Pile Gate, this large circular fountain is a remarkable example of the city's historical infrastructure and architectural grandeur. Constructed in 1438 by the renowned Italian engineer Onofrio della Cava, the fountain was part of a complex water supply system that brought water from a well-spring located over 7 miles away. Despite suffering damage from an earthquake in 1667 and the Croatian War of Independence in the 1990s, the fountain has been well-restored and continues to serve as a functional public water source, offering cool refreshment to locals and tourists alike.
Taste authentic two courses meal with the glass of quality Croatian wine in a small family run restaurant. Hear the interesting stories about Croatian and Dubrovnik gastronomy.
Our licensed guide will explain you historical meaning of the different food with tasting traditional charcuterie board offered by one of the oldest restaurants in the Old City with the view to the Saint Blaise Church
Stradun, also known as Placa, is the main street of Dubrovnik and is considered the lifeline of the city. This limestone-paved pedestrian thoroughfare stretches approximately 300 meters, connecting two city gates, Pile Gate to the west and Ploče Gate to the east, and running through the heart of Dubrovnik's UNESCO-protected Old Town.
The Orlando Column, known as "Orlando's Pillar" or "Roland's Column" in Dubrovnik, is a significant historical landmark located in the heart of the city's old town. Erected in 1418, the column features a statue of the medieval knight Orlando (or Roland), a figure of legend who embodies the freedom and fortitude of Dubrovnik. The column, made of limestone, stands 17 feet high and was traditionally used as a public announcement site, a symbol of justice, and a unit of measurement for local cloth sellers. Rich in folklore and history, the Orlando Column is an enduring symbol of Dubrovnik's cultural heritage and resilience.
Gundulićeva Poljana Market, commonly referred to as the Gundulić Square Market, is a vibrant open-air market located in Gundulić Square in the heart of Dubrovnik's Old Town. Named after Dubrovnik's famous poet Ivan Gundulić, the square transforms into a bustling market each morning. You will have the chance to try one of the traditional sweets of Dubrovnik offered on one of the stands at the farmers market.
Guide will take you to the famous Jesuit Stairs known as Spanish steps or Walk of Shame steps in the Old City. At the square above the steps will be one of the restaurants. there you will taste authentic dishes from the Dubrovnik Republic time dating 16th and 19th century paired with wines from local region.
Explore the south part of the Old City where you can find bars hidden in the rocks
The final stop will be cute pastry shop near the Old port where you will have chance to try traditional cakes or the icecream with the local flavors paired with the traditional Croatian liquors

Ana was amazing and we enjoyed learning about Dubrovnik's history while visiting local food places.
Local, authentic and insert here all the other buzzword. There is a bit of walking but not much. Food was great. Guide was great. If you get Ana you will be very lucky - she is very knowledgeable, empathic and authentic. You will also get suggestions for other places. If somebody says - you will get more if you just go around and do it yourselves - then you don't understand what is the value of this tour. We get very personal and detailed explanations and you literally ask about anything. This was one of our trips highlight and I regret that we didn't start with it.
a lot of delicious and unique food with stories behind it - focused on local ingredients, with 3 healthy pours of wine and a shot of local liqueur at the end. definitely didn’t leave hungry!!
Dear Abby, thank you so much for this wonderful review! We’re so glad the food, wine, and stories all landed well- and that you left full. Sharing the stories behind our local ingredients is one of our favorite parts of the tour, so it means a lot that it came through. We hope to host you again next time you’re in Dubrovnik — hvala puno!
