I've lived in Dublin for over 50 years and most of what we saw on this tour was a revelation even to me. The guide, Liam, was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly a member of the street art community himself. I loved the way the tour didn't try to cram in dozens of stops but instead focussed on a few, so Liam could give us an in-depth account of each artist and tell the story of how and why the piece was created. I'd thoroughly recommend the tour to anyone, local or tourist. I'll definitely be walking around with my gaze pointed upwards from now on!
Wonderful background on street art and good selection of examples. Right amount of walking. Definitely a tour to do.
Street art walking tours are one of my favorite ways to learn about the culture, social concerns, and styles of expression of a community when I travel. Liam was an exceptional guide! Clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about not only graffiti as an art form, but the pieces that he showed on the tour. I particularly appreciated the additional context of the pieces and backgrounds of the artists that he introduced me to. If you’re looking for a way to explore a different side of Dublin, I highly recommend this tour!
Excellent use of my precious Dublin time - Liam did a wonderful job sharing details I’d never have known just walking around & looking at street art on my own. The backstory took it to another level; a great way to learn more about Ireland’s history & current cultural environment. Absolutely worthwhile. Honestly, it should be more expensive for what you learn (tipping the guide is a “must” for such an info-packed tour!).
Liam was a lovely guide, made sure we all were able to hear him while getting great photos. He was very knowledgeable, and we quite enjoyed each of the pieces we stopped to see.
Great tour of some of Dublin’s street art. Loved getting the back story about some of the amazing pieces. Our guide was really passionate about the artists.
Fantastic tour with a really knowledgeable guide. You learn so much about Dublin's recent history and political activism through seeing it's stret artisis' work.
I enjoyed the two hour walk through the streets and alleyways on both sides of the bridge. Jo was our guide and he kept us engaged to the end. Thank you Jo for the insights. 🙏
Thank you so much for your lovely review- we hope to see you back with us for another tour soon
I recently did the Street Art Tour with Alternative Dublin, as well as the special edition, St. Brigid's weekend, Women in Street art. Both were amazing! But the Women in street art was my favourite. I couldn't believe all the street art I'd never noticed while having now been in Dublin for several years. The guides were brilliant and so knowledgeable and passionate about all the pieces they showed us. A special shoutout to Cliodhna, who was absolutely fantastic and answered every question and told loads of great anecdotes . She's such a gem! I've already recommended the tour to friends and will be keeping my eyes peeled for more similar tours from Alternative Dublin. GRMMA xx
I found this to be a wonderful introduction to the arts in Dublin. Liam and Cleeta (?) were knowledgeable and marvelous guides. Great experience! I was able to also get follow-on recommendations for other art venues.
