Itinerary
Step into your comfortable shoes and meet your guide in the charming Old Town to discover the fascinating history and stunning architecture of the old german city. We will begin our adventure in Dresden's beautiful Old Town and the first stop will be the Catholic Court Church that stands as one of Dresden's foremost landmarks. When this cathedral was built, in the 18 th century, the general population of Dresden was protestant but its rulers were catholic. In the crypt the heart of King Augustus the Strong is buried along with the last King of Saxony and the remains of 49 other members of the Wettin family, as well as the remains of people who married into the family, such as Princess Maria Carolina of Savoy, wife of Anthony of Saxony.
Close by we will be able to get a closer look at the beautiful Semper Opera House, regarded as one of the most beautiful European opera houses. The building is considered to be a prime example of "Dresden Baroque" architecture and has a long history of premieres, including major works by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss.
Our next stop will be at world-famous Zwinger Palace, one of the most magnificent Baroque buildings in Germany. With its pavilions and galleries, the “Crown Gate”, the “Nymphs’ Bath” and not least the gardens in the Zwinger courtyard, it is an oasis for every visitor to Dresden.
We move to the star of our tour: the Dresden Castle, one of the most important examples of Renaissance architecture in Germany. Over more than seven centuries it was the residence of the Electors and Kings of Saxony from the House of Wettin. With the help of your experienced guide, learn about one of the oldest Royal House of Europe, House of Wettin, a dynasty of German counts, dukes, prince-electors and kings that once ruled territories of present-day German states of Saxony and Thuringia for 953 years.
A tour of Dresden is incomplete without a visit to city's most famous landmarks: the Lutheran Church of Our Lady. It is considered an outstanding example of Protestant sacred architecture, featuring one of the largest domes in Europe. Also, the locals like to say that: “The church is to Dresden what St. Paul's Cathedral is to London”.
The best is yet to come! We shall finish our tour with a view of as the largest porcelain artwork in the world: The Procession of Princes. The mural displays the ancestral portraits of the 35 margraves, electors, dukes and kings of the House of Wettin between 1127 and 1904 and it is located on the outer wall of the Stables Courtyard of Dresden Castle.

We did the tour with a small group. We found it very good and informative. He addressed our wishes and sensibly included breaks for drinks.

Helga was absolutely fantastic in every way. Personable, punctual, excellent English and a complete command of the history, architecture and culture of the great city of Dresden. We were all blown away by her knowledge and the polished, professional and personal way she conducted our city tour. Ask for Helga! He was truly the best!

We didn’t know what to expect from Dresden and ended up very pleasantly surprised. Our tour guide Cosima was wonderful! She began by asking if there was anything specific we wanted to see or focus on, but we left it up to her. The old town has been very well reconstructed. Cosima described Dresden’s past, both 100s of years ago as well as the last ~50years as both have shaped what it looks like today. We only had an afternoon while traveling between Berlin and Prague, having the private tour was well worth it to us to see the city in such a short amount of time. I would highly recommend Cosima as your guide when you are in Dresden.
Thank you so much for this thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear that Dresden exceeded your expectations and that Cosima made your short visit so memorable. It’s great to know her insights into both the city's rich history and its more recent past added depth to your experience. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words—she’ll be delighted. We hope to welcome you again someday!
We explored baroque architecture, majestic palaces, and captivating museums. The guide was engaging and knowledgeable. A fantastic way to experience this beautiful German city.
Thank you for your kind words! We're glad you enjoyed the tour and found the guide engaging. Hope to see you on another trip soon!
A wonderful detailed guided tour and we loved every minute! My daughters (3 teens) were entertained the entire time and we all learned so much!
Thank you for the great feedback! We're thrilled to hear that the tour was both entertaining and educational for you and your teens. We hope to have the pleasure of guiding you again soon!
My husband and I met our guide, Helga under the statue of King Johann. Helga was on time but was confused as she thought she was going on a bus trip. Helga was very knowledgeable and we took our time exploring the baroque architecture and discovering various beautiful buildings such as The Zwinger and the Semper Opera House and the procession of Princes. However, Helga did not engage with us, didn’t offer to take photos. We had to ask, and when we reached Neumarkt, which I said I loved, didn’t offer to walk us around. She told us that the tour has now ended. We stayed static outside the Frauenkirche and we had 15 minutes left! If a tour advertises that it for two hours, then you expect to get your moneys worth and have a two hour tour. Not one hour and 45 minutes! We left, feeling disappointed as we had travelled from Berlin for the day.
Dear traveler, We deeply regret the oversight in the engagement and timing of the tour, and we are taking immediate steps to address these issues internally. Due to a technical glitch, there was a miscommunication about the nature of the tour. Thank you for your understanding. Tina
