I can't recommend enough this experience. The excursion was fantastic. Ask for Mourad as a guide. Not only he's knowledgeable, but passionate with his work. You'll not only see the genuine Tunisian society, beyond the clichés of the touristic beaches and sterilized Western food in big hotels, you'll meet the real inhabitants where they're still living, how they live. You'll be humbled by the desert and its harsh environment. For the fan of Star Wars you can see two set locations where they filmed the movies (in 1976 and 1997), and even the famous Roman archeological site of Gigthis. In the camp, you'll have internet but the wifi is unrealable, depending where your tent is situated. You can even see the Mareth line (Afrikakorps, Rommel, WWII). At the crossroads of history, prehistory, ethnology and civilizations, you'll be delighted to have discovered another face of Tunisia: the authentic one.
