Itinerary
After a suggestive two-hour trip from Venice, among picturesque mountain villages, we reach our first stop: the fascinating Lake Auronzo. Nestled among the Marmarole, this peaceful lake welcomes us to discover the beauty of the Dolomites. Although created in the 1930s for hydroelectric purposes, Lake Auronzo enchants with its natural charm. Its turquoise waters reflect the towering peaks, giving unforgettable scenery. Walking along its banks, you will immediately feel the typical calm of the Dolomites. This lake is also home to a unique ecosystem: rare algae and microorganisms thrive here, testifying to the resilience of nature. Breathe in the fresh mountain air, take stunning photos and let this magical place be the perfect start to your adventure in the Dolomites. Ready to move on? The next stop is the picturesque Lake Misurina, full of beauty and history.
After a short 30-minute drive, we arrive at the magnificent Lake Misurina, in the heart of the Dolomites. With its pure air and ideal climatic conditions, the lake is renowned for the benefits it offers to those suffering from respiratory problems, thanks to the altitude and quality of the high mountain air. This stopover provides the perfect opportunity for a relaxing walk along the shores of the lake, where the crystal clear waters reflect the imposing surrounding peaks, creating spectacular scenery. Afterwards, you can enjoy lunch in one of the typical restaurants overlooking the lake, savoring the flavors of mountain cuisine and admiring the breathtaking view. Lake Misurina, with its serene atmosphere and unforgettable views, will be one of the most special stages of our journey in the Dolomites.
Continuing our journey, after only 20 minutes, we stop on the shores of Lake Dobbiaco, one of the most fascinating places in South Tyrol. Surrounded by dense forests and framed by mountains, this alpine lake looks like something out of a fairy tale. Its clear and calm waters reflect the surrounding landscape in a play of colors that enchants and invites calm. Located near the Austrian border, Lake Dobbiaco is also home to the rare marble trout, which lives in these pure and oxygen-rich waters, where nature has found its perfect balance. Take a moment to breathe deeply, let yourself be enveloped by the serenity you breathe here and enjoy the simple and authentic beauty of this special corner of the Dolomites.
After another 20 minutes of travel, we arrive at one of the most iconic and fascinating places in the Dolomites: Lake Braies. With its emerald waters framed by the imposing Alpine peaks, this lake is called the "Pearl of the Dolomites" and is one of the most photographed places in Italy. But its natural beauty is not the only reason it is special. In May 1945, right on its shores, an important page in history was written: thanks to delicate negotiations with the Allies, some high-profile hostages held by the Nazis were freed. Walking along the shores of the lake, surrounded by dense forests and flowery meadows, you feel a unique combination of beauty and historical memory, which makes Lake Braies a must-see for those visiting South Tyrol.
Our last stop is Cortina d’Ampezzo, a charming town framed by the spectacular Dolomites. With Roman origins and a history linked to the Austro-Hungarian Empire until the First World War, Cortina was annexed to Italy in 1919 with the Treaty of Saint-Germain. Known for hosting the 1956 Winter Olympics and future venue of the 2026 Games, it is famous for its elegance and cosmopolitan spirit. Walking in the center, you can feel the Ladin, Italian and Germanic influences in the traditions and local language. The main streets offer artisan shops and exclusive boutiques, perfect for shopping or to immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of this village. After Cortina, a two-hour journey to the starting point awaits us, perfect for reflecting on the beauty of the Dolomites and bringing with us the memory of majestic peaks, crystal clear lakes and enchanting villages.
