At this point of the tour travelers will know the Cathedral of San Ildefonso, the oldest in mainland Mexico and one of the first built in America. A place full of symbolism and cultural heritage
In this neoclassical building, visitors will admire the murals by the artist Fernando Castro Pacheco, which narrate with visual force the history of the Mayan people and the conquest of Yucatán. The guide will explain the context of these works and show the main spaces of the palace, such as the balcony overlooking the Plaza Grande.
An architectural gem of the early 20th century, the Gran Hotel retains its original elegance with marble floors, period furniture and art nouveau details. Our guide will recount its history as one of the oldest hotels in Merida and its relevance in the social life of the city.
This church of colonial origin was built by the Jesuit order and stands out for its sober façade and interior altarpiece of Baroque style. The guide will explain its history, its connection with the College of San Pedro and its typical architecture of the viceroyal period in Yucatan
Housed in an old colonial building, this rectory represents the academic heart of the city. The guide will narrate the evolution of the UADY, one of the oldest universities in the southeast, and show the architecture of the building that still preserves its historical essence.
Considered the most important cultural venue in Merida, this neoclassical theater opened in 1908 hosts operas, concerts and shows. Visitors will learn about its history, architecture and details such as the fresco of the ceiling of the main hall and the splendor of its interior dome.
