Itinerary
Your adventure begins with convenient pick-up from your hotel in central Calafate, followed by a scenic drive to Punta Bandera Port.
Here, you'll board a modern boat for a picturesque cruise across the shimmering waters, en route to the historic Cristina Ranch.
Upon arrival at the ranch, 4x4 vehicles will be waiting to take you on a thrilling 9.5 km journey along the rugged Cordón Feruglio, a once-hidden mountain road shaped by ancient glaciers. As we ascend, breathtaking geological landscapes unfold before you, leading us to the Continental Ice Shelter.
From here, a short 20-minute walk will bring us to the Upsala Glacier Viewpoint, perched 550 meters above sea level. Marvel at the panoramic vistas of Lago Guillermo, the eastern face of the Upsala Glacier, the vast South Patagonian Ice Field, and the impressive Murallón and Don Bosco Hills. Next, we embark on a guided trek to Fossil Canyon, a fascinating site rich with fossilized remains, evidence of the region’s ancient marine history. These fossils, long hidden beneath glacial ice, now reveal the secrets of a prehistoric world.
The final leg of our journey takes us through the stunning Cristina Ranch Valley before we return to the boat for a relaxing cruise back to Punta Bandera Port.
