The Santa Monica donut tour is our first foray into sunny Southern California. This tour celebrates all things donuts, sunshine, and beachfront fun. Our tour begins at a California institution, Randy’s Donuts. You may know Randy’s from their many appearances across TV, movies, and music videos, specifically for their iconic giant donut. After we’ve tried some of their amazing classics, we’ll move on to our next location, Sidecar Doughnuts. If you are looking for amazing, artisanal donuts - you’ve come to the right place. Our third location is a slightly unexpected stop, but still quintessentially California for churros. And our last stop may change based on the group or the weather, so we won’t ruin the surprise, but the two options we’ve picked out are both equally fantastic.

Randy's Donuts - a classic California donut institution is our first stop.
Our second stop on the tour. They have amazing artisanal donuts you have to try.
Papi Churros & Tacos is our third stop on the tour. Aside from the churros, you should also try the birria tacos. Delicious!
We may end the tour here or potentially at nearby donut shop depending on the weather and how far the group wants to walk.
We'll walk through the 3rd street promenade to check out the many shops and restaurants nearby.

What an awesome time! The donuts were delicious and Chad was an amazing tour guide! He was very friendly and personable, not to mention patient as after our second donut stop our 4 & 6 year olds were jumping off the walls from the sugar. Highly recommend to anyone who loves Donuts!

I had a great time with our tour guide Mike. He was very knowledgeable. My favorite donut place on the tour was Sidecar donuts because the flavor was really good and very cake like. My second favorite place was Papis churros. The fillings were very unique. The last place I loved was McConnell's ice cream. They had really good ice cream. The tour had a great variety of dessert choices and was excellent, I recommend you do it.

Our family of 5 joined Chad for our donut, churro, and ice cream tour. Chad is a lively and fun personality. He was easily able to keep us entertained between stops and with the other family of 2 that joined us. Chad shared background about each stop and was well prepared with gloves to handle the food, a cutting board, bench scrapper to cut the donuts/churros, napkins, and hand sanitizer. He also shared knowledge about the area as we walked between each business. Each place had wonderful options making it hard to narrow down to just 2-3 donuts per place. The churros were made fresh while we sat outside and the ice cream was so delicious. At the churro location, they had Mexican Cokes which we had to try. Suggestions, bring water, wear sunscreen, wear comfortable walking shoes (the walk is easy), sunglasses, and a hat if you like.

The tour was absolutely fantastic! We got to travel around to historic donut places all over Santa Monica and our tour guide was so interactive, and we learned so much about the history of donut places in Santa Monica! Some of our favorite donuts were sidecar’s huckleberry doughnut, and Randy’s lemon glaze doughnut. I would highly recommend for a family activity on the weekends. It is an amazing walking experience.
