The Daniels and Fisher Clock Tower, a historic and iconic landmark in Denver, stands as a proud reminder of the city's rich heritage. Originally part of the Daniels & Fisher department store, which was one of the largest retail establishments west of the Mississippi River, the tower was completed in 1910. This stunning example of Renaissance Revival architecture is most famous for its 16th-story observation deck, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains and the Denver skyline. The tower's intricate details, including its four giant clock faces, each measuring 16 feet in diameter, add to its architectural splendor. Having survived the demolition of the original department store in the 1970s, the Daniels and Fisher Clock Tower now stands as a solitary monument in the heart of downtown Denver. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists, not only for its historical significance but also for the unique perspective it offers on the city.

On the Denver Microbrew Tour, our route takes us near the iconic Larimer Square, Denver's most historic and vibrant district. While we don't stop here, our proximity allows for a wonderful view of this picturesque area. Larimer Square, known as Denver's oldest block, is a visual feast with beautifully preserved Victorian buildings and twinkling lights that create an enchanting ambiance. This lively area is brimming with independent shops, top-notch restaurants, and entertainment venues. As we pass nearby, you'll experience the fusion of Denver's rich history and its dynamic modernity, a fitting backdrop as we delve into the city's celebrated brewery culture.

At the heart of LoDo, our craft beer tour introduces you to the Oskar Blues Grill & Brew, an iconic Denver establishment that is much more than just a taproom. After undergoing a $2.5 million renovation, this 130-year-old building at Market and 16th Streets has been transformed into a vibrant blend of restaurant, full bar, and music venue. The design incorporates unique elements that are central to Oskar Blues ethos of beers and bikes: like a drumstick chandelier, a guitar pick-covered bar, a mesmerizing hologram-ish likeness of Hendrix, and tap-handle bike wheels. Oskar Blues Grill & Brew is more than a stop on our tour; it's a sensory journey that intertwines the flavors of innovative craft beers with the rhythms of Denver's music scene and culinary artistry, making it a must-visit destination in the city's brewery landscape.

Esteemed as the city's first brewpub, Wynkoop was founded in 1988 by a group including John Hickenlooper, who later became Colorado's governor and a U.S. Senator. This historic establishment helped pioneer the craft beer movement in Denver, transforming the city into a brewing powerhouse. Great way to spend an afternoon in Denver.

This was an excellent experience. The tour took us to four places and the curated beers were fun. I tried beers I usually wouldn’t try and some really surprised me with how good they were. Our guide was very knowledgeable about beer and the area.

Operator response

Hey David! Thanks for the great review. Psyched to see that we found some beers that surprised you, and that you wouldn't have tried on your own. We really try to showcase the best offerings at each spot we visit, while also crafting a list of ~10 unique beer styles across the experience. Glad we found you some new favorites, and that the guide knew the area and beer well. Hope to see you again soon :-) Thanks! Steve
