Dendera temple The Temple of Hathor was largely constructed during the Late Ptolemaic period, specifically during the reign of Ptolemy XII and Cleopatra VII. Later additions were made during the Roman period. Although built by a dynasty of rulers who were not native Egyptians themselves, the design of this temple has been found to be in accordance to that of other classical Egyptian temples, with the exception of the front of the hypostyle hall, which, according to an inscription above the entrance, was constructed by the Emperor Tiberius. Hathor was also regarded as a goddess of healing, and this is evident in the presence of a sanatorium in the temple complex. Here, pilgrims would come to be cured by the goddess.

Today, Abydos is notable for the memorial temple of Seti I, which contains an inscription from the nineteenth dynasty known to the modern world as the Abydos King List. It is a chronological list showing cartouches of most dynastic pharaohs of Egypt from Menes until Ramesses 1The Great Temple and most of the ancient town are buried under the modern buildings to the north of the Seti temple. Many of the original structures and the artifacts within them are considered irretrievable and lost; many may have been destroyed by the new construction

Firstly, we cannot speak highly enough of our knowledgeable guide Osama, thank you to him for showing us around two of the most beautiful places in the world. Lunch was exceptional, the best food we’ve had in Egypt. It is a long day, but well worth it considering the amazing experience and sights.
We had a very comfortable trip. Our guide Abdo was very kind and we felt very safe during our whole trip. The drivers were really awesome and also the egyptologist Osama who explained everything did an awesome job. The temples are stunning and I can really recommend the experience, it's absolutely worth it! Thank you guys for making our trip a very pleasant experience!!!
Very good trip. No problems. Very good driver. Good food in local restaurant. Temples was amazing. You have to visit both temples when You are in Egipt.

A fantastic day with two experienced drivers and our guide, Osama Allam, had the gift of bringing the hieroglyphs and spaces in the temples to life with his stories. Changing landscapes along the way with also life in the villages near the temples. Had a lovely lunch at a local restaurant and other drinks along the way.

The driver who had to take us from the hotel in Marsa Alam to Sarfaga was on time and in Sarfaga the next van was already waiting for us. During the ride also seen the sunrise in the desert, also a special experience. It was a private tour the two of us all day. The guide explained a lot about the 2 temples and had taken extra time for the temple visits, including a little shopping time at the last temple (Dendera). Also had a big lunch in a restaurant. Just a pity that we were told afterwards that we had to pay for the water there, but that is also the only thing that did not go well during the tour. The day before we were supposed to go but we were not picked up because something had gone wrong somewhere, but because of the experience of this tour we are happy that we did it the next day. Everyone did their best to make it a nice day for us and we succeeded.

We had booked for Edu and Kom Ombo but the tours called us to tell us that there were problems on the road and offered us an alternative to Dendera and Abyos and we accepted. She came to take the taxi for us. We left from Marsa Alam and we traveled for almost 5 hours, in Dendera we took the Oshama guide, both the driver and the guide were very good. We first went to Abydos, a temple and a characteristic town. There isn't even an asphalt road but it's beautiful and then we went to the Dendera temple. very beautiful and well maintained. a bit of a trek but good and Marsa Alam tours super correct everything perfect

This is a tricky review to write. The Temple of Abydos is fabulous. The older buildings are from Seti 1st and the quality of the reliefs is excellent and the original colours are amongst the best in Egypt. The Dendara complex is from the Greco/Roman period. Much of it is in ruin, although there are some nice large scale reliefs of Cleopatra. Our guide, Mandur, was knowledgeable and considerate to our needs and our driver Mohammed, was safe and sure. This tour was from Marsa Alam tours with a pick-up from Safaga Port. Unlike other tour companies, Marsa Alam have no access to the port and so our vehicle was not in the cluster of other tour vehicles next to the ship. We eventually found the vehicle outside the gates to the port. A walk of more than 1.6Km from our ship. We wasted more than an hour, looking for the vehicle and walking to it’s location. My recommendation: Seeing the Temple of Abydos should be close to the top of ‘must see’ sites of Egypt. I cannot recommend this tour company for the tour, if your pickup is from Safaga port.
