Highly recommended tour !

We really enjoyed this activity. The hike up in the darkness and reaching the top at sunrise was absolutely amazing as the weather was a bit cooler. It got hot by the time we were in ein gedi but absolutely beautiful there too! We ended the tour with swimming / floating in the Dead Sea and covering us in the mud.

Great day

Amazing day with Samuel getting us to Masada for a dawn walk up the snake path to the Masada fortress. Samuel then shared the fascinating background to the Dead Sea ecosystem and current ecological challenges. He gave excellent advice. It was 40 degrees celcius and he helped ensure we all stayed safe and hydrated in a beautiful but challenging environment. Great value for money and a wonderful day. Thank you Samuel

Get it booked

A few of the reviews me semi skeptical but couldn’t have been more wrong. Coach driver was extremely informative, cracked a few good jokes and made sure we were aware of our surroundings. Although I guide wasn’t provided, I felt he ticked all the boxes in terms of information. Timing were all spot on, just a shame you don’t get much more time at Ein Gedi but completely understandable given the circumstances of timings.

Brilliant

Amazing. Tour kicked off on time and our guide/driver was just wonderful, friendly, insightful and patient. Noting this is pretty much a self guided tour with a driver for the full day. We had a wonderful time! Suitable for groups, couples and solo travelers.

So thankful I booked this tour!

Absolutely amazing experience! It was a lot of work hiking up; however, if you remember to take breaks, you will survive! It was definitely worth not sleeping to do this experience. Our driver (who also was a guide on this not guided tour) was incredible. I forget his name (Sam or Samuel maybe?), but he said he has been doing tours for 30 years now? He was extremely informative and kind. Treated us all like family-no request was ever too much.

Sunrise Hike was a treat in winter

Absolutely worth it to visit Masada, sunrise was a treat after a good hike. - Ask about the hike, they call it moderate, it quite bit of climbing especially if you are taking kids, think about it. Be ready for a long day, pack layers, remove layers as you climb up. Wish this trip was just Masada and Dead Sea, the nature reserve in the middle is just time filer making the day even longer.

JUST BOOK IT

This is an experience that you simply must have when visiting Israel. Watching the sun break through the desert over the dead sea from the historical ruins of Masada after a strenuous but pretty short hike up the snake trail is a lasting memory. Ein Gedi was also bursting with nature. Our bus was very clean and comfy and the driver, Sam, had plenty of towels as well as stories to share. This is self-guided so do some reading on the locations you are visiting before you book. Pack some snacks and a change of clothes and get going!

Amazing experience

Wow! Amazing tour. Our tour guide Yonathan was great. I was a little nervous at first since I'm traveling alone and this leaves so early but I was able to find a taxi to Abraham hostel with no problems. The tour then went so smoothly. I recommend packing around two water bottles since the hike up Massada is tough. Wear good sneakers and pack water shoes and a bathing suit for the dead sea. You may need sunscreen but the sun wasnt too bad since it was December and we started the hike so early. I forgot water shoes but was able to buy some at Ein Gedi. Early December the weather was perfect. A little chilly in the morning but a light jacket and long pants were warm enough. Then by the time the sun got up we had perfect sunny weather for Ein Gedi and the Dead Sea. Also a perfect amount of time spent at each spot for me. Some may consider the stops too short but it's a lot to do in one day and if you like a fast paced trip this is great.

Wonderful excursion

Sunrise hike was great, so peaceful up there. The driver was very nice; you can tell how much he loves Dead Sea region. Do wish we spent a little more time at the sea, but overall it was nice.

Great experience for people who love outdoor activities and want to see a lot in a day

Really good experience though a tad rushed - which makes sense given all that it tries to do in the time allotted. Pick up was in Tel Aviv then an additional pick up in Jerusalem. Absolutely stunning to see the sunrise and happy we went before the heat really set in. You get there and leave before the cable car operates so you must go up and down on foot. This is not a casual hike - the snake path was very steep and DIFFICULT. Great for hiking enthusiasts but if you have any hesitation around physical activity then take a later tour with the cable car! Be prepared to be a hot, sweaty mess throughout the day. Bring water shoes/tevas for Ein Gedi because it has a lovely water trail with waterfalls to go through. Also wish we had some more time at the Dead Sea to change in and out of (slimy!) bathing suits, shower, change, etc. Download the Abraham Tours app to get more info about the places you visit since this is a self-guided tour. I had been concerned about bringing snacks bc no food is provided but there are ample opportunities to purchase snacks along the way. You’ll be able to keep belongings on the bus too. Overall, a great experience packing in a lot for a short stay in Israel!
