Day Tour of the Salento Coast
Description
Board our 9-seater minivan for a tour along the Salento coast, departing at 9:30am from Lecce or from an agreed point in the province. The first stop is Otranto, where you can walk through the alleys of the historic center, visit the monuments and admire beautiful views of the sea. Then we stop at the picturesque Cava di Bauxite and Punta Palascia, the easternmost point of Italy, perfect for taking pictures. We will continue towards the Grotta della Zinzulusa, one of the most fascinating in Salento, which can be visited on foot or by boat (optional). We will then stop at Ponte Ciolo to admire the cliffs overlooking the sea. In Santa Maria di Leuca, a walk through the streets of the village awaits you, with its lighthouse and relaxed atmosphere. We close in Gallipoli, with free time to visit the historic center or relax on the beach, before returning to Lecce or to the departure point by 17:30. A day between nature, culture and breathtaking views in the heart of Salento.

Our first stop will immerse you in the charm of Otranto, a coastal town renowned for its historic architecture and beautiful sea views. Stroll through its picturesque streets, lined with pretty shops and cafes, and let yourself be enveloped by the maritime atmosphere that characterizes the village.
Immediately after, a photo stop is planned at the fascinating Bauxite Quarry, where you can admire the unique geological formations and capture beautiful views of the wild coast.
Punta Palascia awaits us as we reach the easternmost point of Italy, where you will have the opportunity to overlook the edge of the continent and admire the endless expanse of the Adriatic Sea.
Continuing our journey, we'll venture to the mesmerizing Grotte della Zinzulusa, a network of sea caves celebrated for their unique rock formations and crystal-clear waters. Upgrade your experience with an optional boat tour to explore the caves up close, immersing yourself in the surrounding natural beauty.
Next stop on our itinerary is Castro, a charming fishing village rich in history and overlooking a breathtaking coastal scenery. Enjoy a walk along the seafront, admiring the characteristic architecture and tranquil atmosphere of this seaside jewel. The visit to Castro is planned in case, due to weather-marine conditions, it is not possible to enter the Zinzulusa Cave or make the boat tour, or if all tour participants prefer this option.
Our adventure continues with a short stop at Ponte Ciolo, an iconic bridge that offers spectacular panoramic views of the rugged coastline below. Take the opportunity to take some unforgettable photos before continuing on to your next destination.
Then we will arrive in Santa Maria di Leuca, a picturesque seaside town renowned for its historic lighthouse and spectacular coastal views. You will have free time to explore its charming streets and immerse yourself in the relaxed atmosphere that characterizes this extreme corner of Italy.
Our last stop takes us to the coastal city of Gallipoli, famous for its charming old town, beautiful beaches and lively atmosphere. Explore its intertwined alleys, rich in monuments and striking views, or relax on its golden beaches. To conclude the panoramic tour, board our Lilliputian train and enjoy one last pleasant walk.

We were supposed to have an English guide but ended up with an Italian guide who used an AI translation. It worked out, but we weren't able to ask all the questions we had. Giovanni was an excellent driver and our car was very comfortable. We saw several small towns, a cave and a lot of the Salento countryside. The drive by the sea was beautiful. Great tour.
