Carlos is the best! He picked us up, showed us a true Dominican culture. His van even had WI-if, a must for those without service. He made sure we were on time and had a unique experience! I 100% recommend this! This was our favorite excursion of the trip!
"An absolutely unforgettable experience! From the moment we were picked up, the staff was fun, professional, and very accommodating. The highlight was definitely interacting with the squirrel monkeys—they are so playful, adorable, and will jump right onto you if you have food! The handlers were great at helping the monkeys interact with us and took amazing photos. The tour of the countryside and the fresh organic coffee and hot chocolate at the end were the perfect finishing touches. Highly recommend booking this tour if you are visiting Puerto Plata!"

So much fun, gelato is a great guide!
My family and I did the monkey tour and it was truly one of the best experiences ever! From beginning to end, everything was amazing. Our tour guide, Gelsy, was incredible so kind, fun, patient, and made us feel comfortable the entire time. And Jonathan, our personal photographer, captured every beautiful moment perfectly! They both went above and beyond to make this experience unforgettable for our family. The memories, the laughs, and the pictures are something we will cherish forever. Thank you both for making our trip so special. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting! 🐒🤍
Omg what a fun experience the monkeys and the people were so sweet and nice we had such a good time
Monkeys were super sweet and cool to experience.
I was nervous about going to the waterfalls as I had read it was an extensive hike up a trail. Me, my husband, and our two 15 year olds chose this excursion. I’m 51 and work at a desk all day. The hike wasn’t too bad. I was out of breathe but it wasn’t horrible. Others had a much harder time so we took breaks every so often. You’re going to get completely wet so I highly recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting wet as well as a good pair of water shoes. We had the slim slip on wet shoes but we could still feel all of the rocks under our feet. They suggested you leave all belongings in the bus. Because of being submerged in the water, they suggested you don’t take anything you could possibly lose. My daughter and I were in bathing suits but I’d suggest something more like biker shorts and a tank top. They provide you with a helmet and life jacket to wear. At the top of the hike, you’ll sit on outdoor wooden seating until everyone catches up. You’ll finish your water before moving on. Hike a little more but now going down. Climb down a ladder into the cold water where you’ll swim through a crevasse in the rock. You’ll make your way to the first slide in which you’ll go down and be completely submerged. I thought with the life jacket that I’d be able to keep my head above the water but no. Completely submerged. Then you’ll get out and make your way to the jump. It’s 17 feet high from the water. You’ll also have an option to use the “slide” next to it. It’s rock so you might get some hip bruises like I did. My family took the jump. Daughters crocks came off her feet but were retrieved by a worker. Glad I did it but wouldn’t do it again. We got a chance to get back to the bus and drive over to lunch. There was a bathroom there where we could change if we brought dry clothes. Lunch was great! Buffet service with rice and meats. Really good. Then we traveled to Monkey Island. An enclosure that housed many squirrel monkeys. They had you keep your hands open to prevent the monkeys from trying to pry open your hands to see if you had any food. Best to not wear earrings, sunglasses, hats, or hearing aids as these monkeys have been known to take them. The monkeys were so little and soft crawling all over us. The guide would make a sound and shake his food box to lead the monkeys around to everyone. Watch out through cuz the monkeys will pee and/or poop on you. There will be a photographer taking pics and you’ll have an opportunity to purchase them. We bought forty some pics for $50. Was sent to our email for downloading. Just prepare to be walking over a lot of small rocks and to get a little muddy. You’ll definitely be soaked from submersion. Head completely under. Did not like that.
So much fun getting to slide and jump down waterfalls, then hang with some monkeys. The tour guides at each place were amazing, aiming to give us the most memorable experience.
