Great guide through a magnificent cave. Amazing array of rock formations etc (though unfortunately no bats)
Thank you for your lovely review, James! We're so pleased you enjoyed exploring the incredible rock formations and that our guide helped bring the cave to life. While the bats can sometimes be a little elusive, we're glad the experience was still worthwhile. We hope to welcome you back to Jawoyn Country again soon. The Nitmiluk Tours Team
We were notified of an electrical fault at the caves the day before our visit and to avoid possible disappointment we were moved from a morning session to 3pm, with the promise of a call if the fault couldn't be completed in time. That was inconvenient, but we were on a short holiday with friends and could adjust our schedule. On the following morning we now were at a Edith Falls instead, way out of telephone range. For certainty about the electrical repairs I climbed up the hill late morning to get phone reception and was assured that the repairs had been completed and that the caves were open. My group of four packed up and drove the 90km to the caves only to find that they were actually shut. (Rumour has it that they reopened in the morning and the lighting failed again). A poor girl had been left on site to apologise to visitors such as ourselves, but whilst clearly genuine it didn't help . I checked my phone for missed calls and actually had received a voicemail whilst we were out of range about an hour earlier, it was a female who hadn't left a name and on the recording she had just sighed and hung up without saying a word. There had been no further calls. I can understand that there were valid safety reasons for shutting the caves and I don't have an concern with the Cutta Cutta decision. That said, the poor management/lack of notification completely wasted the afternoon for the group during a relatively short holiday and the cost of well over 100km of driving. As our booking agency I blame Tripadvisor for that!
Hi Geoff, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sincerely sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience caused to you and your group. The unexpected electrical fault and subsequent closure were unfortunately outside our control, and while guest safety must always come first, we understand how frustrating it must have been to alter your plans and make the drive only to find the caves closed. We also apologise that our communication did not reach you in time due to the limited phone reception and for the unclear voicemail you received. We appreciate your understanding regarding the safety decision and your honest feedback, which will help us review our communication processes for situations like this. We hope you'll consider visiting us again in the future for the experience you were hoping to enjoy on Jawoyn Country. The Nitmiluk Tours Team
Really enjoyed the walk in Cutta Cutta. I have only one issue. On entering the cave, our eyes are not accustomed to the lack of light for some time. Right close to the entrance inside the cave on the left hand side is a large amount of rock that overhangs the walkway. Well my head greeted that rock. Not happy Jan. Felt quite unstable after that for a time. This is not a complaint looking for compensation or sympathy, but rather if the cave operators could light that particular rock would be most helpful, especially for us older people. Thank you, took lots of pics for others to see.
Hi Trevor, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review and for sharing your experience at Cutta Cutta Caves. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed exploring the caves and capturing plenty of photos to share with others. We're also sorry to hear about your encounter with the overhanging rock and hope you were feeling better shortly afterwards. We truly appreciate you raising this safety suggestion. Feedback like yours is invaluable, and we will pass it on to our team to review whether additional lighting or signage in that area could improve the experience for future visitors. Thank you again for visiting and for helping us make our tours even better. We hope to welcome you back to Jawoyn Country again soon. The Nitmiluk Tours Team
