An excursion to the Thar desert will leave you mesmerised by the subtle nuances of colour, sounds & silence, and natural beauty. This trip will give you the highlights of what the desert has to offer. Beginning in the town of Jaisalmer itself, you can experience the "living" fort and the bustling town sprawled around it. You will then proceed to the countryside with a brief stopover to the ghost town of Khuldara before continuing out to the desert camp where you can enjoy an optional camel ride followed by a traditional Rajasthani dinner buffet and cultural show of music and dance.

My husband and I were so happy that we booked this tour. We were looking for a tour that was only for a partial day (not overnight) and didn't have camel riding as a central part of the experience. While camel riding was an option for this tour, we didn't do it and instead got to spend more time doing other activities. Our guide, James, was amazing - we can't recommend him enough! He took us to the abandoned Kuldhara village, then to a local village, and out into the gorgeous dunes before bringing us to the cultural show location. Being out in the dunes for sunset was a magical experience. This is the perfect tour for folks who want to experience the desert and some traditional Rajasthani arts and food without the commitment of spending the evening in the desert.
