Cullinan diamond Mine Day Tour (surface tour)

Picked up by William. A very pleasant knowledgeable safe driver. Struck up a good conversation with William. Exchanging stories and learning out about each other. Pointed out places of intrest and history on trip to Cullinan. Just over an hour from Johannesburg. Please be advised, not stated in itinerary explaining tour. 1. You need to take your passport. Only found out when we asked tour supplier confirming pick up time. 2. You have to undertake a breath test before entering the mine. 3. You need to sign a medicsl disclaimer. 4. If you are over 65 yrs, you have to undergo a medical assessment by onsite medical personnel (Blood and pulse test). Issued with hard hats and high visibility jackets which must been worn at all times. You also need to wear closed shoes. Good introduced and video on the mine and how it all started, how the diamonds are mined, work pattern of staff employed. Our guide explained all the different areas of the mine and their functions while walking around. Ending up at the big hole. Can be a bit uneven underfoot. Learned alot about diamonds, how formed and extracted, found the experience rewarding. You have the opportunity to visit the diamond shop in the complex just before exiting the site. The shop staff allows you to view closely and see the difference in the 4 'C' (Cut, Colour, Clarity & Carat). Be advised you can claim back the VAT on leaving South Africa. In all a good tour, learnt alot and recommended

William was a very passionate tour guide giving us loads of information on his South Africa... he is very knowledgeable and I learnt alot from him about a variety of subjects on South Africa and Johannesburg... I would recommend any tour with William as he is a freelance guide with his own business... I enjoyed tge tour of Cullinan diamond mine but would've enjoyed a few more hours exploring the quaint village having lunch and do some shopping...

From the time I was picked up at my hotel in the morning til the time I was dropped off, I was in good hands. VW was newer model, clean & safe. My driver (his name started with an L) enjoyed giving me a history lesson about the area and SA, in general. At the diamond mine, it blended history with modern day operations. The film was good and I enjoyed the little museum. I think overall the tour was the right amount of time, albeit quite expensive.

Excellent driver/guide to and from the mine. The mine tour is only surface but we saw alot and learned alot. Our vehicle to/from the mine was clean and comfortable. Definitely a worthwhile trip.

This is the second tour we took with KG, our guide. Once again, it was an extremely enjoyable tour in a comfortable and clean car. KG's commentary was extremely informative. The mine tour guide was likewise excellent. The mine is site not to be missed.

Pastor has a wealth of information about South Africa, and he has a great sense of humor! He customized the tour for my preferences. He also seems to know everyone we came across. Not to mention he speaks eight languages! I highly recommend booking his services for your trip to South Africa!

It was a very nice and interesting tour. You get an idea how difficult it is to get the diamonds out of the earth and the techniques are impressive.

Pastor was a fantastic guide..punctual..tour was very informative…I learned a lot about diamond mining. The town is very small but has a nice lunch cafe..they have a showcase with a few diamonds in them from the mine for sale..I now know the ins and outs of diamond mining in South Africa!
