We had a wonderful time with Marvin visiting the cave and Maropeng center. Marvin was very knowledgeable and extremely professional. We were picked up on time from our hotel and learned a lot about South Africa and Johannesburg in route to the cave. At the cave we joined in a small group tour and learned about the fossils found there. We spent about two hours at the site between the tour and exhibits. We especially liked the fossil lab where you can see how they are extracted from rock. Following the cave, we went to the Maropeng center and learned more about the fossils found in the general area. There is a lot of information…almost too much…and a somewhat cheesy boat ride. The museum part is really well done and worth stopping in to see. In all we spent about two hours here. It was a great day learning more about our origins. Glad we chose Africa Moja and very glad we were paired with Marvin.
The guide was very kind. Very well prepared and well structured in his explanations. He drove carefully. He was punctual in picking us up and adhered to the scheduled time
Marvin was great! He messaged early to let me know what time he'd pick me up and was fun to ride with!
Sterkfontein caves were very interesting and worth the visit, but be prepared to crawl in places. Maropeng is ideal for families and children, but less so for solo adults. The tour bus arrived on time and staff were very friendly. However, our guide was called away to another tour in Kruger before we reached the destination, so we left him at a petrol station and continued with only the driver. This was very bizarre and not what I'd expect from an established tour company.
Amazing experience highly recommended one of the most impressive places on earth where the humankind starts, Marvin is an excellent guide and host, the exhibition is small and nice let us reflect us about the importance of the our origin
Michael Tsidi of Africa Maja Tours picked me up from my hotel and we went to both the Cradle of Humankind Museum at Maropeng and the Sterkfontein Caves. Before that Michael sent messages to me to make sure he will be picking me up at the agreed time and place. Michael was excellent, ensuring I got to those sites on time for the guided tours and provided information on South African cultures, history and general infomration. The tour guides at both the Maropeng Experince Museum and the Sterfontein Caves were very good and knowledege. Overall I had a very good day tour to the Cradle of Humankind. I am now interested in archaeology. Full marks to everyone..
Guide for Africa Moja tour was excellent. Friendly, informative and prompt. Cradle of humankind tour is well worth doing, even for the experience of the caves themselves.
We had a fantastic day tour with Marvin our guide. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. There is nothing better than someone who truly loves what they do. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. Make sure you ask for Marvin.
This was an enjoyable and interesting way to spend a day in Johannesburg. Our driver Solly was prompt, friendly and flexible for pick up and drop off times and locations.
Great experience to walk around ups and downs where the history of Homo sapiens has probably started. The guide is very knowledgeable and well demonstrate them. Because it is a walking adventure in the cave, wet and sloppy, sometimes need to bend down, so make sure to ware nice walking shoes.
