Buyer beware if you are booking this excursion through a cruise stop in Costa Maya. Our cruise ship was unable to dock at Costa Maya due to weather conditions, which is unfortunately something that happens from time to time at this port. Because the ship never docked, it was physically impossible for us to attend the excursion. Despite this, the operator refused to provide any refund, credit, or accommodation. Viator informed us that the operator considered the circumstances outside of their control and denied the refund request. I understand that weather is not the operator's fault. However, it was also not our fault, and we had no ability to reach the excursion location once the port call was canceled. The operator chose to keep the full payment for a service that we had no opportunity to use. If you are arriving by cruise ship, be aware that you may lose 100% of your money if your ship cannot dock, regardless of the reason. The excursion itself may be excellent, but based on my experience with the refund policy and customer service, I would think very carefully before booking in advance through a third party.
We purchased direct from the website. We walked through the port and told the taxi driver where to and once we arrived they paid the taxi driver. They gave us towels and showed us to are seats on the beach. We all eventually ended up in the pool, which is small but was a nice place to cool off. The food and the service were OUTSTANDING!! The staff was super friendly and the place was clean and not crowded. There were several vendors who would walk by and try to sell things to you but none were super pushy. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone who is looking to get out of the port area and have amazing service and food.
