The Girifalco Fortress is located at the highest point of Cortona and overlooks the town. The Fortress was built, on a project by Gabrio Serbelloni, in 1561 at the behest of Grand Duke Cosimo I dei Medici
The Porta Bifora or Ghibellina is located in Cortona and was named in this way because in Etruscan times it consisted of a double entrance.
