This cooking experience was exactly what we were looking for! 15 years ago in Rome, my husband and I took a small, in-home class with a chef and had the most wonderful time. Our newly minted adult son wanted to try it too. However, that same opportunity has become commercialized, along with every other option we can find. So I was excited to find this option in one of the other cities we would be visiting, and we got matched with the most marvelous chef - Rafaella! It was just the three of us in our family along with Rafaella - who kindly welcomed us into her warm and inviting kitchen to teach us. Rafaella contacted me in the days ahead to ask for help with the menu, and carved something out that suited our family well. We made a ton of food and ate too much! Definitely plan to take home leftovers, bring Ziploc bags or some takeaway containers, and plan to have a refrigerator! We were leaving town the next day and we’re not able to do that. We ended up learning to make a ragu sauce, fresh tagliatelle, eggplant parmigiana, and tiramisu - all from scratch - and all organic. Everything was absolutely delicious and this was the highlight experience of our trip! We made a giant mess, and Rafaella would not allow us to help clean, nor did she eat with us. But she did join us for a toast, a blessing, and dessert! Absolutely would recommend this experience! 10/10!!
We cooked lasagna with Raffaella and it was a great experience! She's very patient and explained each step in details. We made everything from scratch: the ragu, béchamel, pasta. We also made a salad. It took longer than the class time and we appreciate Raffaella spending extra time for us to complete the dishes. Everything was delicious! It made us appreciate Italian cooking more. We recommend booking a class with Raffaella.
Our host was very nice but not very chatty as we had to keep engaging her to talk with us. The food ended up being great but we didn't eat until 9pm (the class was from 5:30-8:30) as the host was very disorganized. Time management was a big issue. The apartment is in a charming neighborhood but the AC was insufficient and the apartment was unbearably hot. Given the cost, I would expect better planning.
Dear Sir or Madam, Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We always aim to deliver a great experience, and we are gutted when we don’t meet expectations. We will use the feedback to make us better and to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We genuinely appreciate our clients' input and we are happy you enjoyed the food and thought it was great! Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention. Best regards,
Raffaella is WONDERFUL. Kind, generous, interesting, a fabulous cook, and with a taste for the very best Italian food products. We would cook with her (or take one of her market tours) again and again, and we will recommend it to all of our friends. Ten starts out of five -- absolutely great.
Raffaella was a wonderful teacher and person. My wife and I were her only students this day and it was great being in her home and working with her. It is as if we were friends spending an afternoon together cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the time spent with her. Do this class.
My girlfriend and I had an amazing time at Raffaella’s cooking class. She was so welcoming and made the whole experience unforgettable. We learned to make tortellini, asparagus risotto, tagliatelle with ragu sauce, and a delicious tiramisu. The class was hands-on, fun, and full of great tips. One of the best experiences of our trip — highly recommend!
We had the most fabulous time. Maria Louisa welcomed us with open arms and we felt like part of a very loving family . We learned to roll and spread pasta - the Italian way and it is definitely a labor of love . I have a new appreciation for pasta and now we know how to make it from scratch . The food was excellent. The ragu sauce was so savory and definitely could tell it was a recipe passed down for generations. The tiramisu was most excellent as well and she gave us her recipe to make at home when we return to the states . We danced , we laughed and felt like we became part of a new family . It was an experience I will forever cherish . I want to go back and repeat the lesson again !!!! Thank you for your kindness , patience and generosity . Don’t forget to ask Maria Louisa about her delicious balsamic vinegars . ❤️🧀
Rafaella was extremely kind and shared her great cooking experience while we had the opportunity to prepare a delicious Italian full meal. We had the a great time!
Elena was so friendly and great with our kids. She showed us her families balsamic vinegar production in the attic.
Imagine making tortellini, tagliatelle, risotto, and mascarpone from scratch! I was able to do all of this thanks to the wonderful experience provided by Elena. She welcomed me into her home and provided an authentic experience with grace and generosity. Having a taste of her family's own balsamic vinegar was icing on the cake. This was hands down my favorite time spent during a two week trip throughout Italy. Thank you!
