Itinerary
As an accredited Official tour Guide for the Walled Town of Conwy I will meet you at Conwy Visitor Centre. I will guide you to the Millgate in the medieval walls where we can interpret this remarkable structure and get to know the key characters and events that shaped this UNECO World Heritage Site.
We will visit the historic market place of Lancaster Square and the statue of Llywelyn the Great
This is a spot where the buzz of Conwy eases to a more relaxed pace. Parts of the 12th Century abbey that once stood on this spot are now integrated into this charming historic building. We will use the church and its grounds as a window to the past as we explore the character of this unique town.
We will walk this ancient thoroughfare and take a look at some of the fascinating historic buildings which still stand here.
Conwy High Street is a lovely area boasting a range of independent shops selling fresh local produce. Here we will find independent galleries, delicatessens, cafes, gift shops and a much-loved ice cream emporium. The historic properties here include Plas Mawr which is considered to be the finest and best Elizabethan townhouse in Britain. As your guide I will bring out the highlights and share their context with you.
Conwy's bustling quayside offers beautiful views across the water, the smallest house in Britain and the oldest traditional pub in the town. It is also home to an active fishing fleet and the famous Conwy Mussels company. We will sample the appealing atmosphere of this popular spot as we explore its history, its heritage and its charm.
We will interpret the external defensive features of this mighty castle and hear the stories behind the incredible events that have taken place here.
Conwy's bridges are engineering marvels of world importance. We will walk one of the first suspension bridges in the world and share an appreciation for this remarkable river crossings.

The Conwy Town and Castle Wall tour was terrific and James was a fantastic guide. It's obvious he was a former History teacher. My husband and I learned so much about the town and castle. James' delivery was educational, engaging and entertaining. We highlight recommend it.

Thank you for joining the tour and for your kind review - it was lovely meeting you!
I really enjoyed learning the history of Conwy castle and town. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and was patient with myself and tired children. There was only us on the tour so he took the time to listen about my children's interests and showed us a couple places that they would enjoy because of these. I loved learning about king Edward and the origins of the castle the most.
Thank you so much for your kind review - it was lovely meeting you and getting to show you all round Conwy. Thank you again, James

Just completed the Conwy town and castle exterior open group tour with official guide. I would highly recommend this tour as a small and very informative snap shot of Conwys historic town and magnificent castle. James our guide has a wonderful way of explaining all the informative features of the town, and the history of the castle. I’m glad I went, and what a lovely way to spend an afternoon for an hour. Thank you James

We had a wonderful 1 hour plus tour with James, a retired history teacher, who took us around to the outside of many places and wove together stories of people, places and history. I am so glad we did this before touring the castle and manor house as he gave great context to both. We were lucky enough to have just the three of us on the tour, but it was an easy walk and well worth the time and the admission fee.
Thank you so much for your kind review - it was lovely meeting you and I am so glad you enjoyed the tour!
