Awesome experience and beautiful scenery. Pilot was great pointing everything out and ensuring everyone on both sides could take photos. Would do it again!!
Mahalo for the review and feedback! We look forward to seeing you next time!
Book. It. We did so many excursions here in Maui and this was by far our favorite. The views were impeccable, our pilot Kirk was also amazing!
Thank you so much! Happy to hear your flight with Kirk was the highlight of your trip here!
Kirk was out pilot and he made the flight amazing. He was funny and informative and made you feel safe. We had an amazing time. Worth every penny.
Thank you so much! Happy to hear you enjoyed your flight with Kirk!
We had an incredible 60-minute helicopter tour of West Maui & Molokai with Air Maui and can’t recommend it enough. Nathan was a fantastic pilot; he was professional, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience feel safe and unforgettable. The office staff were also wonderful from the very beginning, even during my pre-booking phone calls. They were so helpful, kind, and made everything seamless and stress-free. A truly unforgettable experience and a must-do/ don’t miss tour when visiting Maui!
Mahalo for the wonderful recommendation! Happy to hear you enjoyed the views of Maui from above with Nathan!
We are extremely disappointed with our experience with Air Maui. The way our helicopter tour was handled felt unprofessional and, honestly, quite frustrating. What upset us the most was that the company apparently already knew in advance that the flight would not take place. However, instead of informing us ahead of time, we were only told once we arrived on site. This meant we had no opportunity to adjust our plans or make alternative arrangements. To make matters worse, we were then presented with an alternative offer on the spot – at an additional cost. It felt very much like this situation was used to generate extra money rather than to find a fair solution for the customer. There was little to no consideration for the inconvenience caused. Travel time, scheduling issues, and personal plans were completely disregarded. We did not feel valued as customers at all. Overall, this experience left a very negative impression. We would not recommend booking with Air Maui based on how this situation was handled.
I do apologize for a understandably frustrating experience it seems you had with us. As you know Hawaii and Maui in particular recently got hit with some very bad weather. We do try our best reach out to guests as soon as we get word from the pilots if they are cancelling flights. I am sorry we weren't able to get to you ahead of time. I would like to know more about this offer to pay more for an alternate option that you mentioned. I see you booked the Complete Island which is our longest flight so there really is no other flight option that would be more expensive than that one so I am a bit confused on that. I would like to look into this further and if that was the case I definitely need to speak to our staff and see what went on. I kindly ask if you can email us directly at letsfly@airmaui.com.
The windows had glare, so the media package is worth it. Great memories and beautiful scenery. Might try the doors off option next.
Thank you very much! We look forward to seeing you when you are back in the islands for doors off!
My wife and I have taken multiple helicopter tours and we have always enjoyed the experience. The Air Maui Odyssey tour experience was good but not as nice as we had hoped. Positives: The pilot (Drew) was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He was local resident and provided a wealth of insight about the areas and most specifically about the various valleys and waterfalls. The views from the helicopter are phenomenal and always provide you a deeper appreciation for the beauty of land and water. Negatives: The date of our tour was cloudy and due to the inclement weather we had to alter our tour route. The pilot did his best to try to accommodate the riders and show us alternate islands and give us more in depth views but after about 30 minutes into the ride, the waterfalls and the valleys became harder to differentiate (minor issue). Major issue: the rear seating in the back of the helicopter is uncomfortable and the views are significantly limited. This is ESPECIALLY true for the middle seats - the middle seat behind the front seat bench is very uncomfortable and my view was obstructed. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering this tour confirm prior to ride which seat they will be assigned. Your tour experience is significantly different depending upon your seating.
Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review and feedback. Seating is done by a weight and balance and there is an option to upgrade and purchase the two front seats (pending body weights; max 380lbs combined for the two front seats). The front seats can get a bit better views but even in the back if a you are a party of 2 one of you will be guaranteed the window in hopes that the middle seat person can share that window too. That said I understand your frustration with limited viewing and do apologize about that.
The pilot and tour were excellent. The big complaint is that the helicopter was very crowded, thus horribly uncomfortable. It was difficult taking pictures from my middle seat in the back as others kept their cameras in my view. There shouldn’t be 4 large people in the back seat. The front seat had 2 people plus the pilot, who appeared to be crowded. The office crew was helpful and explained change of itinerary due to weather. Drew, the pilot, gave an excellent narration, and given the difficulty of actually seeing what he was talking about, I was looking forward to the promised video. When we got back, no video was available. Very disappointing.
Thank you for the feedback. I do apologize about the flight being too crowded. When booking either online, with a concierge or over the phone directly with us we try our best to stress providing accurate body weights for this reason but sometimes there are other factors we need to consider and look more closely at so I will have management speak to our staff about this. The video has a chance of not recording or not recording properly (you never know with technology!) so we do not ever promise that it will work. If you can email us directly at letsfly@airmaui.com we can make a video of a different Complete Island flight with Drew and get that to you so you can get some photos/videos from the air that you were not able to capture during the flight. Mahalo~
Not guaranteed that you’ll fly. Weather issue prevented the flight 2 days in a row. The 2nd day the staff were rude.
All flights are weather permitting so there is never a guarantee that you will fly. Safety is top priority and our pilots will not fly if it is unsafe or you aren't going to see anything. I apologize about the weather not working out for you to fly with us.
Great flight, even though we got rerouted due to cloud cover over Haleakala. Vince gave us a great tour of West Maui and Molokai. Decent photos from rear seats aren’t really possible as the small curved plastic windows distort the viewand reflect helicopter internals.
