Itinerary
First stop at “Castello di Donnafugata” which, in the fiction, is the local boss Don Balduccio Sinagra’s dwelling.
We continue to Punta Secca (Marinella in the fiction) to visit, from outside, the House of Montalbano and nearby the sandy beach where he swims.
We continue to Donnalucata, where the episode “the shape of water” is mostly set. In fact, the promenade of Donnalucata, which in the fiction is called Marinella, is the main scenario of this episode. However, it is often used in many other episodes of The Inspector Montalbano.
Afterwards, we reach the baroque village of Scicli. Short walk for visiting the beautiful baroue historical centre (Montelusa in the fiction), “Palazzo Comunale” (the City Hall) which is Vigata’s police station in the fiction, and “Palazzo Iacono”, the police headquarter.
We continue to Modica, whose historical centre is also in Baroque style. The beautiful staircase of Saint George’s Cathedral was the protagonist of the episode “Tocco d’artista”. The beautiful views over the town, the churches and palaces in Baroque style, and the characteristic alleys are the backdrop to many other scenes of the fiction. An obligatory stop at the end of the tour of the historic center will be the Antica Cioccolateria Bonajuto, where it will be possible to taste the famous and delicious Modica Chocolate in its numerous fragrances.
We end up with the visit of the beautiful Piazza Duomo of Ragusa Ibla, with its baroque Church of San Giorgio, which represents the main square of Vigata, the imaginary village of Montalbano. The view of Ibla with the dome of the illuminated Cathedral appears behind Montalbano in the episode A blade of light, when the Commissioner, guest of the issuer of Vigata Rete Libera, issues an interview. The Cathedral of San Giorgio and the square of Ragusa Ibla return in many episodes of the TV series. Whenever the Commissioner stops in the central square or in the Church of Madre di Vigata we admire the superb baroque style of Ragusa Ibla, its square and the Duomo. The church of Santa Maria delle Scale, the staircase and the magnificent panorama of Ragusa Ibla are the backdrop to a mugger in the episode "Gatto e Cardellino". The Circolo di Conversazione, overlooking Piazza Duomo, is the place where Montalbano often breaks cabbasisi to doctor Pasquano playing cards. Many scenes are filmed inside and outside the Circle. In the episode "La luna di carta" the Commissioner enters the smoky rooms of the Club, among notables and rich people of Vigata playing cards, and meets the annoyed Pasquano who with fake courtesy and ironic jokes answers Montalbano's questions. The Giardino Ibleo is located not far from the restaurant da Calogero. In Vigata the municipal garden becomes an elegant nursing home where Montalbano goes to the episode La luna di carta. In the tree-lined garden paths, the Commissioner meets an old thief who shows a key to find out what he can open.

We had a wonderful, enjoyable Montalbano tour with our guide, Giuseppe with Taxi Catania NCC. He was an excellent driver and knowledgeable about Montalbano filming destinations and each location! Now we will be able to revisit these beautiful destinations again as a memory and see them again on TV Montalbano! Thank you!
The Commissario Montalbano tour was conducted by Riccardo from Taxi Catania NCC. He was very knowledgeable about the series, but also Sicily in general and the significance of the locations used in the TV series. Highly recommended tour, with an excellent tour guide Riccardo who was very pleasant, eloquent and accommodating. The tour was even better than I had hoped, and we were very pleased. Thanks to Riccardo and Taxi Catania NCC
Excellent tour. Anyone that enjoyed the Montalbano television series should take this tour. Ricardo was friendly, polite, and fluent in English, in addition to being extremely knowledgeable about the places where the series was filmed.
Ricardo was an excellent knowledgable guide, couldn’t have been more helpful and considerate This trip is a must do for all Inspector Montalbano fans , the highlight being able to visit the actual film sets that are still in Scicli town hall which doubled as the police station
A comprehensive tour of Montalbano’s filming locations with a knowledgeable/driver guide. A very interesting day.
Excursions Sicily, private tour with Eduardo was fabulous. nothing was too much trouble. We didn't (as expected) take just external photographs of the police station and mafia boss' house, we went inside them for only 6 euros each! Outside Insp. Montalbano's house( and Enzo's restaurant) was fabulous and relatively quiet, a stroll on 'the' beach was most welcome. We visited Modica en route and sampled and bought some beautiful chocolate there. Well worth the visit. The car was immaculate and Eduardo's driving was fist class.
This was the most brilliant experience and a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday with my friends. Riccardo and Annalisa were the most thoughtful, attentive, interesting and informative guides and made sure we saw Montalbano’s house, ate at his table in the restaurant at Punta Secca and toured the police station in Scicli-even getting photos in his office ! It was so much more than we could’ve wished for and I highly recommend the trip. Not only did we see more of the Sicily but we learned so much about it too! Many, many thanks Riccardo and Annalisa for making my birthday a truly special and most memorable one -we had the best time ! Sue, Angie, Allyson and Cath
Emblematic places of a cult series such as El Coimisario Montalbano. Too bad I was closing (apparently definitely) the restaurant Enzo a Mare location next door a few meters from the house, which is where Salvo used to have lunch with a good wine. Mur near there is Scili where the commissioner is.-
Our private taxi journey of more than 9 hours took us around all the major locations used in the TV series. Our driver Ricardo, was very knowledgeable both of the TV series and Sicilian life. In our journey we touched upon about every subject of modern Sicily as well as the history with Greek, Roman and Arab heritage. This tour is not just a change to experience the sets and locations used in the 1990s series, it's a chance to see inside Sicilian life. We thoroughly recommend it.
We had a superb day We booked a private tour for 3. Our guide Ricardo was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful especially in accommodating my elderly mother. This was a full day's outing and we saw everything we’d hoped to see, all in great comfort. More than happy to recommend and thank you again, Ricardo.
