Absolutely outstanding tour. The sites are of course incredible, but the Bein Harim guides are what make these tours even more special. Danny B is a wealth of knowledge, patient and kind. I couldn't recommend these guys enough. ❤️
Thanks very much for this rave review of your competent guide Danny. He is indeed worthy of your compliments for his perfomrance, skill and manner. We are always very pleased to read that travelers come away with an experience that is memorable.
Great tour guide who did an excellent job! We thoroughly enjoyed the tour! And I’d recommend to anyone who can walk and stand for 8 hours!
So happy to read you came away with a great tour experience to cherish. Appreciate you sharing this.
A fascinating underground walk where you walk where 1st century pilgrims walked. Currently it only goes at 2 pm and lasts 1 1/2 hours. Much of the time is above ground or in an archeological site, but you get about a 15-20 minute trip in a skinny, low underground tunnel and you get to see the foundations stones of the retaining wall for the temple mount below street level. You don't walk on the wide stone steps where they are still excavating. Those you can only walk a short distance and then it is blocked. This tour starts about 1/2 way between the Pool of Siloam and the southern wall of the temple mount and then ascends up to the southern wall. You end up coming out in the Davidson archeological park near the south west corner of the temple mount down on street level.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the City of David and Underground. It sounds truly fascinating, and we appreciate your insights into the tour details. We hope you had a memorable time exploring this historical site.
Daniel was a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable and easy to understand. He kept the tour timing on track while still answering questions. It was very informative and fun!
Really appreciate you sharing your immense satisfaction with Daniel. He deserves your praise for his professional efforts.
Daniel was an excellent tour guide and provided comprehensive information on each site visited. In addition, he was able to answer every question directed to him. I would certainly recommend him as a tour guide to anything in Jerusalem.
We are delighted to hear that Daniel provided you with a wonderful and fabulous tour experience.
The Jerusalem City of David Tour is a full-day tour comprised of a small group of five tourists. Our tour guide Mr. Danny Maor from Bein Harim Tourism Services brought the City of David to life through his comprehensive understanding of the multiple facets of cultures and civilizations that have predominated in succession in that world-famous location. Knowledgeable about the various periods and customs he led us literally step by step through the eras so that we could follow the sequences of conquerors and cultures. The pace was appropriate and the amount of walking thought considerable was not strenuous. For the time of the tour the price was appropriate. As a Jew, the tour was most compelling of course when we’re taken to the “kotel” and allowed to make our own spiritual moment with the continuity of generations. I recommend this tour for those with a love of history, archeology, and the myriad cultures of Israel and Palestine.
It's wonderful to hear that you had a unique and memorable experience with Danny as your guide. We're thrilled to hear that you recommend this tour to others who share a love of history, archaeology, and the diverse cultures of Israel.
The City of David is a spectacular site and everyone who visits Jerusalem should see it. The tour didn’t add much beyond the posted information. The tour is quite physically demanding and some of our tour-mates weren’t up for it and caused us to skip parts. The pickup was also chaotic and long. It took 2 hours to get to the site through multiple transfers, when we could have walked from our hotel, across the old city, to it in 45 minutes. There were other tours that seemed more engaging than ours, although everyone was very nice.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are glad to hear that you found the City of David to be a spectacular site and we agree that it is a must-see for anyone visiting Jerusalem. We understand that this can be a bit challenging for some people and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by skipping parts of the tour. But this tour includes a reasonable amount of walking. As well we apologize for the chaotic and long pickup process that you experienced. We strive to provide a seamless and efficient pickup process. In Jerusalem traffic, during the morning time, there is a major obstacle to our transport system, this is mainly out of our control. Thank you again for your review, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future.
Everything was amazing my guide Ziv was very informative about everything he was patient and respectful funny he made the tour . This was my very first tour with Viator I loved it and can’t wait to take more tours , thank you v
Great to receive this rave review of your guide Ziv. He is worthy of such praise for his efforts, humor, and professional guiding skills.
She was knowledgeable but offended the Orthodox on our trip. You can't speak about levels of treatment or practice. Praying is set and personal. Part of our trip was too dangerous coming downhill on wet cobblestones. We didn't know how many stairs we were to climb. We didn't appreciate paying extra entrance fees. There was mass confusion as to what bus to take and where to meet the guide and bus. This was 1 of 5 days that we had out of the 8 days that we paid for. There was no explanation given why we paid for 8 if we had 5 days of touring. This was the only day that was more Jewish then not. As I wrote to Nir, what was Jewish about our tour package? We had supposed Zionist guides who were either leftists or didn't want to commit publicly. We wondered who wrote their scripts about what not to say about the political situation in Israel. Christians receive a much different political picture then we Jews. Is Bein Harim or Israel in general afraid of scaring off the tourists? Based upon the chaos and confusion and lack of attention to important details, we were left feeling who is running the asylum? Plus, we paid for an 8 day tour package and ended up with 5 day predominantly Christian presentations in place of Jewish history. At one point, one Jewish guide told us that Christianity had become the preferred religion with no explanation as to how and why. Or another guide told us the Christian story on Mt Gibor but not the Jewish story. Or another guide told me that if I went to the bathroom in Acco, then I would have to find the group. I missed half the tour looking for them. That was compared to us waiting for one person to show from Tel Aviv for over an hour and then that person showed and decided to switch to another tour bus. Or one guide lacked English words to properly present what we were looking at or avoiding points of interest to see. It made us wonder if the Orthodox or American tour guides are the ones to hire and forget the others. So why give this tour guide a 4? Because she knew her stuff and the day ended up being almost Jewish, except for the time she took to explain the pieces about all the famous churches and showed us Jesus' last supper. Why those pieces were added, left me clueless. It makes one wonder if all non-Orthodox tour companies are like this. It's about time that someone step up and act like a Jew for Jerusalem and a Jew for Judaism like this guide did ( for the most part). Rabbi Claire Ginsburg Goldstein
Thank you for taking the time to share your review of the Jewish tour package you recently took. I am sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. It is unfortunate to hear about the confusion surrounding the bus and meeting points, as well as the lack of information provided regarding the entrance fees. Clear communication and attention to detail are essential for a successful tour. Regarding your comments about the political situation in Israel, it is understandable that different tour companies may have different approaches to discussing this topic. However, it is important for all guides to present accurate and unbiased information to their clients, regardless of their personal beliefs. Overall, it seems that the tour guide you had was knowledgeable about Jewish history and did a good job of making the tour predominantly Jewish-focused, but there were some issues with communication and attention to detail that detracted from the overall experience. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, and I hope that your future travels will be more enjoyable.
It is a very interesting tour, even when the weather is terrible. Tour guide was very accommodating. The pick up point is not well thought through. We went away from starting point about 30 min by bus before we changed the nus and went back to the Tower of David. It should be an option to meet by the tower of David
Sorry to read yet again about the days starting logistics. Will certainly investigate this in depth. Meeting tourists individually at various locations is simply not an option. Guides cannot begin to be in charge of meeting up arrangements.
